Since I will be moving overseas in just a few months, I am thinking about getting a gaming laptop so I can keep playing Star Citizen once I no longer have a desktop.
This (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N12YZ7B/) seems like the best value for money that I can find. The specs aren't mind-blowing, but they're still an upgrade from my current desktop, particularly with regard to the GPU. I don't want to spend much more than that since if I end up settling down somewhere in a year or two, I'll build a brand new gaming PC and the laptop will become obsolete.

You'll be a permanent Windows user in no time...

Windows Subsystem for Linux actually makes using Windows tolerable, so I don't see what the big deal is with that.

Why will you not have a desktop once you move? No space to store it?

I haven't decided for certain if I'm moving permanently yet or not. There's no sense in taking any more luggage than I need just yet. I'll either be selling my desktop or putting it into storage in Sydney.

So I found a good deal on eBay and snatched it up.

Kaby Lake i7, 16 GiB of RAM and a 1050 Ti for under €1000. The SSD is a little small, but I happen to have brought a bigger one with me to Europe that I can swap in.
This should be able to play all current titles, and likely all future titles until such time as I have a more permanent home and can build a proper gaming PC.

Nice. When does it arrive? And what are you going to play other than Scam Shitizen?

It arrived literally half an hour ago. I am now creating a Windows 10 USB installation stick so I can get a clean install of Windows without the Dell crapware (and also so I can install to a bigger SSD).
I'll probably play some Dark Souls, Witcher 3, and of course the great classic of our times, Euro Truck Simulator 2.

I've upgraded the SSD and reinstalled Windows. Now just to install some games...

Install MINIX on it.
