Science & Alternative Science / New Report on WTC 7
« on: February 18, 2024, 05:52:41 PM »
Here is an interview with Dr. Leroy Hulsey, professor emeritus at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. His report directly conflicts with the NIST Report on WTC 7 (which never released the data sets utilized to model their version of how the building collapsed).

There will be a trial in a Texas court later regarding the Barbers Hill School District's decision to deny regular classroom access to a student (18-year-old Darryl George) due to the length of his hair. The school district has a dress code policy in place that limits the length of the hair for a male student. George claims the school district policy violates a new Texas law that was enacted in September of last year, called the CROWN Act. Barbers Hill School District Superintendent Greg Poole claims the district is not violating the CROWN Act and that, "being an American requires conformity."

A couple of things strike me as unusual about this situation.

1) The fact the school district is named "Barbers Hill," and the issue is over hair length.

2) Since when does being American require conformity? I thought the country was based on individualism and non-conformity.

Recently, Claudine Gay resigned from her position as the President of Harvard University. This resignation was perhaps fueled by charges concerning possible acts of plagiarism.

Who is charged with defining the act of plagiarism?

Should universities employ persons who have committed acts of plagiarism (more specifically as professors)?

Philosophy, Religion & Society / Cheating in Chess
« on: November 27, 2023, 07:36:13 PM »
Cheating in chess has garnered much attention over the past year, commencing with the former World Champion (2013-2023), GM Magnus Carlsen, withdrawing from the 2022 Sinquefeld Cup after losing to GM Hans Niemann in their third-round match of the event. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlsen%E2%80%93Niemann_controversy

Since that event last year, much of the news involving cheating in chess has been centered on steps that major online platforms, such as Chess.com and Lichess, have taken in an effort to detect cheating on their websites.

Most recently, GM Hikaru Nakamura, who is the second-highest-rated blitz player on the Chess.com platform, has been effectively accused of cheating on the platform by former World Champion (2000-2007), GM Vladimir Kramnik. Kramnik has started a petition demanding Chess.com perform and publish an analysis of the results Nakamura has achieved over a recent sixty-day period of play on Chess.com.

When the Carlsen-Niemann controversy erupted, I was questioning the governance policy/procedure FIDE (the governing body of professional chess worldwide) had in place concerning inviting or allowing admitted or proven cheaters to participate in FIDE-sanctioned tournaments, even those held in person and over-the-board. I do not believe persons found to have cheated during online chess should be invited or allowed to participate in FIDE-sanctioned tournaments.

This latest bit of news involving Nakamura becomes even more interesting given that Nakamura has qualified to participate in the next Candidates tournament.

I have been perusing the forums here for evidence of revisionist history.

Here are two examples.

First Saddam tries to revise history by claiming Biden wanted Shokin fired because he was not investigating Burisma...
There's certainly no doubt that Hunter was hired by Burisma in an effort to help protect themselves, either by simply currying favor with Joe or by having access to directly influence him. The leadership of Burisma were clearly corrupt, and Shokin's refusal to properly investigate them was a big part of why the international community as a whole wanted him fired. (This is an important detail that conservatives keep trying to rewrite history on. Shokin wasn't fired for investigating Burisma; he was fired for protecting them. Biden wasn't protecting Burisma by demanding that Shokin be fired; it was in fact the reverse.) That criminals were talking like criminals amongst themselves isn't exactly a surprise. Also, Mykola Zlochevsky has something of a history of offering bribes, as seen by the fact that he's currently wanted by Ukraine's government for trying to bribe the prosecutors looking into Burisma, so the fact that he was supposedly considering offering bribes to Biden was almost certainly more of a Zlochevsky thing than a Biden thing, so to speak.
Had the sources actually existed in 2019(when all of this started to come to light) supporting Saddam's position, one can rest assured a reference most certainly would have been provided when news of Brandon's and Hunter's criminal enterprises became public.

Example two:
Additionally, only one engine in the missile.
Now, one must look at the entirety of the thread and simply notice the rabid and merciless replies from the fine RE-adherents here, such as DD, AATW, and the mourned, departed RS, never ceasing to jump on whatever they considered to be the slightest mistake or obvious misstatement  in any of my posts (indeed, that is their MO) within this thread.

Why didn't they catch this and jump all over me at the time?

Well, there was nothing to catch.

At the time, the NK ballistic missile was written to have only a single stage.

Because they knew the numbers wouldn't jive or fit the narrative, they had to add a second stage and revise Wikipedia.

Shameful.

Suggestions & Concerns / Concerning all the choices in how to post
« on: July 09, 2021, 12:34:41 PM »
I did a search (and perhaps it wasn't specific enough - if not I apologize) but could not find a user guide for using these choices of formatting here at TFES.

Is there a guide as to how and why one would use BBC or not use BBC, what the horizontal rule button is for, and the purpose of toggle view?

Thank you.

SteelyBob and AATW are acting in concert, posting material to serve as a reference in the thread here:

https://forum.tfes.org/index.php?topic=18167.0

You can see that AATW went so far as to totally clip out the fact the table was found to originally be in a WordPress document.

At minimum, I thought authorship was required.

But with these two, they do not care from where they pull their garbage, they just want to strew it about.
