I wonder why someone needs 100 proofs. Just one would suffice to get ne convinced...

Flat Earth Theory / Kansas and the pancake

On the Wiki I found a link to an article stating that "Kansas is Flatter than a Pancake" link. However, this article (which I believe is not meant to be very serious anyway) does not describe what kind of DEM data is used to create the profile map of Kansas. It is even possible it uses data from radar satellites orbiting earth (link). In that case, the roundness of the earth is a precondition for the article.

If not, the profile data could be just measurements in the direction of gravity, and thus would be probably identical in the flat earth as well as the round earth scenario. 

In any case, the article does not proof anything, neither in favor nor against, the flat earth theory, and should be removed from the Wiki.

However, I would like to open a serious discussion on this topic. Suggestions and thoughts are welcome!

I need to reopen my question, as it has been closed.

The observation os a sun going below the horizon is explained in the FAQ as a perspectivic effect. However, this cannot be true.

When standing on a very high mountain, one can clearly see the sun vanishing below the horizon. If this would be a perspectiviv effect the sun would get very close to the horizon, but never able to go below the horizon.

Am I wrong? Please explain!

When looking up in the night sky from Europe, one can see the stars moving around a star labelled as 'Pole Star' (over the duration of the night). However, when looking up the night sky from e.g. Australia, one can see the stars moving roughly around a star constellation called the 'Southern Cross'. How is this working exactly on the flat earth? Is there some documentation available?

How can I see a sunset or sunrise (i.e. the sun to be below a horizon, e.g. from a high montain), if the earth is flat?

If not, what about the people claiming to have been to the South Pole? Do the all deliberately lie on behalf of a great conspiracy?

Flat Earth Theory / Strange article: The Bedford Canal experiment

On the TFES Wiki I found two articles:

which puzzles me. In chapter II of the work, "EXPERIMENTS DEMONSTRATING THE TRUE FORM OF STANDING WATER, AND PROVING THE EARTH TO BE A PLANE." the statement that an earth with circumference of  25,000 English statute miles would show a declination of 8 inches in the first statute mile. This statement is bluntly incorrect!

Over a distance of 6 miles the declination really is 2.18 mm. So, if the telescope is 2 feet(!) above the water, sure you can see the distant flag to the bottom. This experiment does not prove the earth is flat!

I can show the math for this very simple derivation, if someone needs to see it...

I have another great idea.

I would like to know, from people believing the earth is not round, what laws of physics you assume are correct, and which you assume are wrong, incorrect or made up from conspiracies.

The list of physic laws I have in mind are:

- classical mechanics
- quantum mechanics
- general relativity
- special relativity
- gravitation
- electricity
- model of the atom
- model of the atomic nuclei
- elementery physics
- model of the forces (gravitational force, weak force, strong force, electromagnetic force)
- optics
- ...

(With 'laws of physics' I mean the plethora of generally-accepted rules describing how the world works (according to Wikipedia). Thus my list includes terms like 'model', 'theory', 'law' etc. on the same level, meaning 'mathematical rule to describe something').

I got a new question. What, in the believes of FET, is the distance between the surface of the earth and the sun (or the moon), just in the moment, as, say, the sun (or the moon) is directly overhead? A rough approximation would suffice...

Hello,

I have a simple question: According to your FAQ, the space agencies of the world conspire to make humanity believe the earth is round. Why should they? What is the point of deliberatly deceive humanity?

And wouldn't it be way easier to find a technical reason to NOT send up astronauts and hundreds of satellites, with the need of faking results for every single such launch?
