Temporary admin appointment for Lord Dave
« on: December 04, 2013, 12:06:52 AM »
Just a heads up, Lord Dave has been temporarily admin'd to help us approve new users until we get proper spam filtering sorted out. This means we have one admin in each of America, Europe and Australia, which should cover most timezones and minimise wait times for approval.

Thanks for offering to help out, Dave.
when you try to mock anyone while also running the flat earth society. Lol

Whatever is higher than admin is what I will be soon.  Admin+1, Senior Admin, VP of FES Worldwide Administration, etc.

The only reason Lord Dave specifically was selected for this role was that he's online a lot, and in an appropriate time zone to cover all bases. This is by no means a permanent arrangement.

I'm hoping to discuss a permanent forum staff structure with PizzaPlanet this weekend. Until then, please calm down.

Mmmm. Again, this isn't Parsifal and pizzaplanet's flat earth society any more than the last one belonged to Daniel.

I'm too busy to mod or anything (over xmas I do loads of charity work and will be out 4-5 nights a week raising money from the 10th) so I feel it easier to say from afar ... have elections or opinions. Don't keep stuffing authority on us.

As an aside I don't think the admins should moderate.

Let the mods mod and the admins admininistrate and watch the mods. That way an admin can't be a twat with absolute power and a mod can't get all high and mighty and start cleaving noobs all over the place. It'd make a nice balance and stop the unbelievable inequality that having admin powers gives certain members. If you need more mods, appoint them. But ask the community who they want.

I just think this is a nicer approach.

I am administering.  I'm administering the member approvals.  Nothing else.
If you are going to DebOOonK an expert then you have to at least provide a source with credentials of equal or greater relevance. Even then, it merely shows that some experts disagree with each other.

I promise not to abuse this power.
I promise not to click settings I don't need to in order to approve/reject members.
I promise to do these things from a "free" OS.

This occurred several weeks ago.

I do not wish for power for I can not commit to the responsibility.
