I say that membership should cost some small amount of money, and a member will receive:

- 1 Official Membership Card
- 1 Printed letter officiating them into the society
- 1 Certificate of Membership
- 1 Cardboard Certificate Holder
- Access to the Zetetic Council Forums with voting privileges
- Name will go onto a public roster. But no anonymous option. Flat Earthers should not be ashamed of who they are.

Is it a coincidence that the biggest sand dunes on the monterey bay are about the same size, just below which can be sustained in the winds in that area?

The real coincidence is how the sun and the moon appear the be the same size in the sky, 0.5 degrees, despite the sun being 400 times as far and millions of times larger.

The OP is asking about the sizes of the FET sun and moon.  The RET sun and moon are irrelevant and off topic.

The FET sun and moon was addressed with my first sentence, of which I have yet to hear a reply.

Actually, no, it was not a felony to be informally an "MD" in England at the time. Many people were called "MD" simply because they practiced informally. It was considered a "Gentleman's Profession" that one could "learn by doing". Modern concepts of medical school were only just then being developed. In fact, many doctors didn't even charge fees, but took unobtrusive "donations" for their services. I recommend any good history book of the medical profession. Evidently you need some education.

He was the leader of a commune, and then he was parading around the country bilking people of their money trying to get them to believe the world was flat. There was no time for him to have ever been able to get a PhD in America, which wasn't offered until the 1860's, and there is no evidence he spoke German to get one there, which was the only other country that offered one at the time.

Really? You think that the practice of medicine was informal in the late 1800's? Anyone could perform surgeries, deliver babies, prescribe powerful drugs, perform lobotomies, and start hacking and slashing away into whomever they pleased? Medicine has been regulated by governments since the first day people looked around and thought of something to regulate. Even the Ancient Greeks regulated their doctors.

You are claiming that Rowbotham got away with claiming himself a doctor for all of his career, despite being constantly in the public light. That is simply ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure it was a felony to represent yourself as a doctor if you were in fact not one. SBR was very much in the public spotlight with his movement. The idea that he got away with pretending to be a doctor and running a medical practice for over 35 years is laughable.

The workshop is different. Only a few people have the necessary knowledge or honed debating experience to write a chapter of a Flat Earth book. Everyone has the ability to make suggestions for what they would like to see for the society and vote on it.

Occam's Razor asks us which explanation makes the least number of assumptions. The explanation which makes the least number of assumptions is the simplest explanation. Occam's Razor works in favor of the Flat Earth Theory. Several examples exist below.

What's the simplest explanation; that my experience of existing upon a plane wherever I go and whatever I do is a massive illusion, that my eyes are constantly deceiving me and that I am actually looking at the enormous sphere of the earth spinning through space at tens of thousands of miles an hour, whirling in perpetual epicycles around the universe; or is the simplest explanation that my eyes are not playing tricks on me and that the earth is exactly as it appears?

What's the simplest explanation; that NASA has successfully designed and invented never before seen rocket technologies from scratch which can accelerate 100 tons of matter straight up at 7 miles per second, and that NASA can do the impossible on a daily basis, explore the solar system, and constantly wow the nation by landing a man on the moon and sending robots to mars; or is the simplest explanation that they really can't do all of that stuff?

When I walk off the edge of a three foot drop off and go into free fall while observing the surface of the earth carefully the earth appears to accelerate up towards me. What's the simplest explanation; that there exists hypothetical undiscovered Graviton particles emanating from the earth which accelerates my body towards the surface through unexplained quantum effects; or is the simplest explanation that this mysterious highly theoretical mechanism does not exist and the earth has just accelerated upwards towards me exactly as I've observed?

What's the simplest explanation; that when I look up and see the sun slowly move across the sky over the course of the day, that the globe earth is spinning at over a thousand miles per hour - faster than the speed of sound at the equator - despite me being unable able to feel this centripetal acceleration, or is the simplest explanation that the sun itself is just moving across the sky exactly as I have observed?

What's the simplest explanation; that the sun, moon, and stars are enormous bodies of unimaginable mass, size, and distances which represent frontiers to a vast and infinite unknowable universe teeming with alien worlds, black holes, quasars and nebulae, and phenomena only conceivable in science fiction; or is the simplest explanation that the universe isn't so large or unknown and when we look up at the stars we are just looking at small points of light in the sky exactly they appear to be?

What is the flight route that is taken?

Why does that matter? It can be assumed that the planes take the shortest route possible, showing that the north and south are the same size

If the flights between two countries are 14 hours long, that only tells us that the countries are that distance apart. No one charted the FE maps 100%. How do we know how far apart the countries are gong to "long way" around the earth?

I officially endorse Tom's idea.

The big problem with the ZC, in my experience with it, is that when ideas are brought up all 5 members are never available to discuss it or vote on it, and discussions consistently stagnate. Then the people who were active get tired of yelling into a void and disappear for months and the cycle continues.

If Tom's plan is implemented (presumably after reunification), I see several things happening. First, the ZC process becomes a lot more democratic. If you care enough to be reading this, you would probably be able to vote under Tom's idea. I like that. The regulars here tend to have good ideas. With careful moderation of the ZC board (I would propose, albeit without thinking about the idea too hard, that the ZC members be able to moderate the board), it could be a great place for the society and Flat Earth Theory to prosper. It would fix the stagnation problem, too, because discussion of the ideas would not be limited to ZC members.

The current ZC is an ineffective organization. I think Tom's proposal would fix the main reasons that's the case.

We are looking for a decision on this idea to reorganize the Zetetic Council with this proposal I made on the on the ZC forum. It was felt by some that we need a decision from the community before making such drastic changes.

I've been kicking ideas around in my head for how we can make the Zetetic Council better. I had a few ideas. My conclusion is as follows:

1. We open up Flat Earth Society membership to all who want it. As a member of the Flat Earth Society your name goes onto a roster, you agree to fight globularist heresy in all its forms, and you will receive a certificate reflecting this (virtual or printed TBD).

2. As a official member of the Flat Earth Society you receive standing recognition and access to in the Zetetic Council Board

3. Zeteic Council members are elected and are tasked with creating and putting proposals to a vote. Zetetic Council members provide organizational guidance, but are not considered the workhorses.

4. Official members of the Flat Earth Society vote and comment on the proposals, and in doing so self motivate themselves to begin the project and see it to completion.

We may want to rename the Zetetic Council Board to another name, but I believe this idea has a lot of merit. I welcome comments on this idea.

Please respond with Yay or Nay and any comments. A decision will be made in 1 week.

How is an unplanned panorama any more legitimate than a planned panorama?

Secondly, the Apollo astronauts didn't carry video cameras. but they did take panoramas with their still cameras.

We all know about those panoramas. Those were specifically staged parts of the missions, taken with special rotating equipment, this one being from the Lunar Rover.

I am saying, that the video cameras the astronauts had should have made sweeping views of the landscape. It would only be natural for any astronaut new to a foreign world to do that. A staged panoramic, taken as part of the mission, falls outside of this scope.
