Arts & Entertainment / Re: Now Playing (the Video Game Version)
« on: December 09, 2013, 11:18:16 PM »
Just got the Gamecube fired up at my new flat and have been dying in Ikaruga again. One of the toughest games ever made. Seriously, 'hardcore' doesn't even begin to describe how insane it actually is.

Bear in mind when you watch this video that it is only level 2 of 5

Level 5 was, I think, designed by machines for machines. My jaw dropped at the skill of the player.

Yikes...that looks like my kind of game! I love bullet hell games to death, I must find a copy O:

But that picture was made to mock the very attitude you use it for >:(

PS4 is demonstrably more powerful, however. For example: running games in actual 1080p rather than 720p or upscaled 900p like the Xbox One.

Technology & Information / Some help with IRC on Trillian
« on: December 09, 2013, 04:17:20 AM »
I know it's not the best IRC program, but I like to use it because it lets me integrate any chat programs I want along with it. All the other ones I've tried I left for one reason or another (Pidgin was my prior program of choice), so yeah.

So...mostly this is just me being lazy and wanting to streamline everything, but I can't seem to get Trillian to close #lobby after it /joins #theflatearthsociety. This is what I've got:

It gets me into #theflatearthsociety fine, but it seems to refuse to execute the /part command on #lobby for some reason or another. I've tried a few variations, including without the slashes or having it /cycle back to #lobby and executing /part on its own, but none of the roundabout ways I've thought of will work.

So yeah, I'd really like to get this working in Trillian if possible, so does anyone have any ideas? Ideally I'd like to close the console that pops up, too, but I'm not sure if that's possible.

It's really not that tough once you have it set up. To get on IRC I literally click two buttons, then I type "/join #theflatearthsociety" and I'm chatting.

I could probably even cut out that last step if I knew how to in Trillian and I could be right in FES IRC in two clicks.

EDIT: Took like 30 seconds to figure out. I now take two clicks to get into FES' IRC channel.

I'm pretty sure they made the Xbox One big enough to fit a couple whole 360s in there

« on: December 09, 2013, 03:30:22 AM »
Since theism is the default position of most people in the world, the onus is on the atheist to prove us wrong.

That's not true, though. You want us to prove something doesn't exist. That's not how it works; you need to prove something does exist, otherwise we shouldn't simply assume it does.

That's the equivalent of "I have superpowers", "prove it", "you can't prove I don't!"

I'm only arguing that proposing the universe just got here is like saying the watch you found had no maker.

That's a horrible argument, though, no matter what way you try to present it. There is no reason to believe things couldn't have come about naturally; just because there's an analogy for something doesn't make it true.

]It's not going to be as hard as you think. I have 150 years of history to dredge. Its what to leave out that is hard. I'm gonna try to pick things that have an interesting link or back story to them.

Still, 200 events on different dates seems like a lot. What kinda events are you going to be picking out? I could be vastly underestimating the amount of big events in FE history, though; you'd know way more about it than I would.

I, too, like this idea a lot!

Then I shall continue and once I have about 200 dates, I'll stick them into something readable with the help of he admin staff.

Do you mean you're going to find 200 entire FE-related dates? If so, wow, I salute you. That's quite a bit

They kept dev-mode in the software?  Knowing it could brick the thing?
Lazy.

Well, it is Microsoft, so

Yay! Thank you Dave, and thanks Parsifal for, for some reason, trusting me and asking me in the first place. I feel all fuzzy, I never thought I would see the day this happened. :)

It helps if you read the thread before replying.

It helps if you would make sense. Why are you talking about original games? You mean Fallout? You've never played Fallout?

I'm pretty sure a lot of people have never played Fallout

I eagerly await the FES header up there slowly expanding over time as you guys add more and more things that require lengthening it each time.

Also, it works now. :D
