Flat Earth Theory / Repost: Geocentric? More like Egocentric
« on: December 02, 2015, 08:36:25 AM »
This is a repost from the original FES: after vibrating the man who wrote this, I got his premission to repost his topic. Tell me what you think.

Let's analyse the implications of what an geocentric SS means.
It's not difficult to find the distance to any planet using a method called parralax.
So we measure the distance to Neptune, could be any other planet but it's my favorite. Now we know the distance we can use geometry to figure out its speed. Since it is suppose to orbit earth once per 24hours, lets make an equation, making no assumptions at all.

If an object moves in a circular path, we can understand that the distance it travels, divided by the time it takes equals the speed(change in position)/(change in time). Since we know the radius of the sircoolar path, which is the distance from centre to path. We can determine the orbital distance, which is the circumference=2pi*r

so, we get Speed=(2Pi*r)/(time)

I have personally measured Neptune to be approximately 4.7 billion km away from earth, I work as an astronomer, you see.

now the input: Speed=(2*pi*4.7 10^12m)/(24h*60m/h*60s/m) and we get?

Speed=341 793 645 m/s

Clearly this is impossible. Unless neptunians have Alcubierre drive, which I find highly implausible.

To make a model, based on science, which contradicts the most fundamental laws of physics? Let me ask you, is truly egocentric by definition to believe everything revolves around me!

Flat Earth Theory / Why earth is flat
« on: November 02, 2015, 02:42:29 PM »
Why is earth flat?
By this I mean:
What distinct observation supports the idea that earth is flat, and remember that if the observation can be explained by something else then it can not be a valid scientific hypothese.

Some say flat earth is a theory, I say it's more of an unscientific hypothesis. If you are one of those, then you do not understand the basics of the scientific method. Please educate yourself before you answer.
Education:

However, if you can provide an observation which can only be explained by accepting earth is flat, then its a valid scientific hypothese. Next step will then be to create other hypotheses about flat earth leading towards a theory, but remember that if even one small observation that is inconsistent with our first hypothese will create problems and there will not be a flat earth theory.

Having said this I ask: Why is earth flat?

NB! Please notify if this should belong in debate or general section. I will not accept trolls or  haters attacking my grammar. If something is unclear, tell me.
