You slowly gain more suit abilities?
Super Mario is an RPG because the fireflower gives you a new ability :^)

Update: we got a response. We will have to reach some sort of compromise when it comes to DNS management (of the theflatearthsociety.org domain). This really shouldn't affect anything. We should be able to reach a sensible balance, and if worse comes to worst we can always use tfes.org as a fallback.

I think this is the last of technical details that need to be discussed. We'll probably move on to organisational stuff once we reach a final agreement on that bit. Shouldn't be much longer before we're ready for final consultation/voting!

ISIS is a direct result of intervention in the middle east. I'm not so sure even more intervention is going to resolve the situation.
Eventually we'll kill them off :^).

Also, sure, intervening in the first place was a cock-up, but now we're at a point of no return. Bush's "gawd told may to kill paypole" legacy shall live forevermore.

Is it possible that people are overestimating the threat of IS? They are surrounded by enemies and unwilling to work with other Muslim terrorist groups because they seen them as apostates. They use their western recruits as cannon fodder which will presumably cause the flow of recruits to dry up eventually.
It's not a very probable outcome, but if we don't respond promptly enough, they might eventually become The Ottomans 2.0, except with more violent beliefs and technology that makes mass genocide easy.

I think the question here shouldn't be "how much of a threat are they?" but rather "can we take chances and risk them becoming a threat over time?".

Thank you for your response, Pizzaplanet.  Have you entertained the idea that Daniel may not know the answer to your query and as a result is avoiding sending a reply?
Well, a large part of the question is whether or not he'd let us manage the DNS, in full or partially. We can't really proceed before we have these sort of details sorted out, since our approach to things will vary greatly depending on the response.

You have photographic evidence of stars that shouldn't be seen from a given point of view by Round Earth standards? Holy shit, please post them immediately, that would settle the debate once and for all! I'm so excited for this new FE evidence you claim to have!
No, I'm saying that is impossible. You say you have facts and evidence to disprove that notion. Post 'em up or retract your claim, please.

False. You can still see the arc with nothing but dim moonlight.
Which is perfectly consistent with EAT.

How so?
By way of there being a distinguishable arc in virtually any modern FE model.

See mathematics of satellite motion
http://www.physicsclassroom.com/class/circles/Lesson-4/Mathematics-of-Satellite-Motion
Right, so you have a hypothetical explanation, not facts. Thanks.

The sun's reflection off of the moon even the planets is substantial enough
I'm sorry, could you write coherently?

Please provide where the light reflecting off of the moon comes from.
The moon.

This is such a waste of time.
But we're not wasting time on anything, unless you count the maybe 20 minutes we spent writing e-mails. It's not like this site is shut down or put on hold while we talk about things. It's business as usual, and if we manage to reach a conclusion, all that will happen is us importing all of their posts and members here.

We're currently waiting for Daniel's response to a question about DNS management - fairly mundane stuff. We asked it 3 weeks ago, then 1 week ago Daniel responded acting as if he never received the question (saying that he's ready to proceed if we are, etc), so we re-sent it.

Well, some of us do believe in Sheol, but that is not Hell as Muslims and Christians understand the term. I personally believe in a Sheol, if you will.
My (very limited) understanding is that the original understanding of Sheol was the abode of the dead to which all people eventually go, regardless of how good or evil they were; but it seems like later on (the Second Temple period) this interpretation was altered to suggest that Sheol is divided into compartments for the good and evil. Is this inaccurate?

Economic - they think they can run their own economy better than Westminster can

I think economically they may have a point.
I cannot claim expertise on the subject, but there have been articles in reasonably reputable magazines that made the case both for Scotland's great economy and predictions of a very rapid decline after declaring independence (e.g. http://www.economist.com/news/britain/21606869-independent-scotland-would-be-rich-country-terrible-prospects-costly-solitude). Personally, I find the latter to be more convincing. But, just like you, I'm not Scottish, and I will probably be leaving the UK in about a year, so I can't say I care too much.

Political - an independent Scotland will never suffer under the yoke of a Conservative government
SNP have literally the same policies, except they don't understand how the current UK and EU governances work.

Cultural - Braveheart
Honestly, I think this is what it's all about. Decades of "ay'm Scottesh, not Britesh" mentality have finally compounded to the point where they think they need independence. I'd say that I'm confident they're in the minority, but I was horribly wrong about UKIP in European Elections, so I no longer trust my guesstimates of political popularity.

I do.
Fair enough. For the record, I wasn't planning to criticise that or have any follow-up at all, I was just curious.

It doesn't matter much to me, but it is slightly different since neither of those states were originally their own independent country with their own citizens and economy.
Pedantry, engage! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Texas

Independence is the motivation for independence.
Do you support Texan and/or Californian secessionists for the same reason?

Hmm.. some facts..  lets see.. Well photographic evidence surely supports my POV.
You have photographic evidence of stars that shouldn't be seen from a given point of view by Round Earth standards? Holy shit, please post them immediately, that would settle the debate once and for all! I'm so excited for this new FE evidence you claim to have!

The fact that you can see the arc of the curvature of the Earth from the air ( much easier seen over water).
See: Electromagnetic accelerator.

With a flat plane there would be no distinguishable arc.
This is incorrect under virtually any Flat Earth model.

Fact the orbit of our satellites are based on spherical principles.
Please substantiate this claim, keeping in mind that you used the word fact.

Fact it can be observed that the sun is a spherical object that gives off light in every direction.
Please substantiate this claim, keeping in mind that you used the word fact.

If the sun acts essentially as a lighthouse why then does light from the sun reflect off of the moon if it is facing the earth?
It doesn't.

Most of us don't believe in hell, so the question is moot.
Wasn't Sheol basically hell during the Second Temple period? What happened to that?

It's simple really my POV is supported by facts, evidence, and observation.
Okay, feel free to present those. I'm particularly curious about the "facts", since science doesn't deal with those.

Care to answer what I asked btw?
Of course, right after you're done backing up (or retracting) your misconstrued claims.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Constellations and their respective hemispheres

Unfortunately that is not true.
Could you provide some reasoning to support that?

Right pathetic looking, the British Isles will be. The Scottish were always treated much better than the Irish so I don't see much motivation for independence, really.
It's the same strain of misinformation that makes Americans hate healthcare. Can't have any of that big government, they only take our money and do nothing!

But if the national debt is held by the Bank of England
It's not.

Salmond's point is based on his lack of understanding of how the UK works, or how an independent Scotland would work. Regardless of what Scotland chooses to do, it should get rid of that mountebank before he dicks it up for everyone involved.

Alternatively, we can't do that because the atmosphere is still too thick from that POV.
