favicon

Just a tiny thing ... can we change the favicon to match our new logo?

Maybe something like this?

I love this idea.  A favicon is something I've secretly lamented the lack of for a long, long time.

Hold on - lack? We do have a favicon. Or, well, it *should* work. If you're not seeing one, could you give us some more details?

Fine idea, but I don't think the full logo scales well enough to that resolution. As an alternative, I made these based on the New Posts icon:

Thoughts?

Personally, I like the idea of zooming in a bit, but I feel like it would be better to focus on the Earth part of the logo, rather than the Sun. The "Sun = new posts, stars = no new posts" concept works very well when there are 2 options to present, but I think the favicon should mostly point out that, y'know, the Earth is flat.

I don't see one across the myriad of platforms I use to access this site.  What should it be?

I will investigate this matter further.

Blanko's are way nicer than mine.

Honestly I didn't think I'd do a great job, I only have MS Paint. I just didn't want to come here asking for something again like "can you do this for me, I'm prepared to put in no effort". If I could have done a better version I would. But now we have Blanko's please consign mine to the dustbin of dead favicons.

Our site and associated social media all look so nice and co-ordinated (except google+ ... do we even use that still or is it SEO lipservice?) and the favicon just looks a little out of place.

So, seems no objections. Can we implement the new Blanko favicon?

How do we get something from agreed to implemented? Is there a process for that?

Technically, no. Anyone can make a pull request on our GitHub.

In the absence of any objections and counter-suggestions bar my own, I pushed Blanko's suggestion to our codebase. It should take effect whenever Parsifal redeploys the code.

Aaaand that should be done now. If you're not immediately seeing it, you might need to clear your cache. Looking good on my end!

Thanks guys :)

Isn't consistent though. Still have the old favicon on the home page for example.

Yes, I interpreted your request as one for the forum. It's perfectly consistent, we just misunderstood one another.

It makes sense when everything is themed for the new design, that the new favicon is used throughout.

I didn't want to patronise you by spelling out the obvious. I will in the future.  :P
