Help a newbie out!
« on: October 19, 2017, 02:35:52 AM »
I'm thinking about joining the society and I was just wondering what some of the more nuanced aspects of the group are i.e. general stance on religion, how the world came to be, etc. I understand the basics, but I just want to hear it from the people who really represent this group

Welcome, you may find in the early stages of integration a feeling of nausea and disorientation, breathe deeply and remain calm.
Do not try to make friends or curry favour, three out of four murders are committed by people known to the victim.
Be yourself, is the worst advice.
Remember that whether the boundaries of the earth are spherical or flat, human stupidity is limitless.
Maintain your sense of humour.
If god exists, it’s probably me, and I don’t like people.
Just to be clear, you are all terrific, but everything you say is exactly what a moron would say.

Now that you've heard from some of our more... uh, vibrant... regulars, let me try to actually answer the question.

general stance on religion
Most Flat Earthers here are non-religious or agnostic. However, we do not officially/collectively endorse or condemn any religious beliefs. There is no need to create needless divisions.

how the world came to be
Not really a subject that concerns us. We're here to spread our beliefs on how the Earth currently is, not how it was or how it came to be.
Read the FAQ before asking your question - chances are we already addressed it.

I thought it was a good question for "Philosophy, Religion & Society"

The question was what the society believes, not what individual members may or may not believe.
