I think I just like stacking certs and working at my comfy Socialist government job. But for real, I had a 2nd interview today with a managed security service provider and I think I'll take it.
Yep, I'm doing the Security + exam, probably late December, Early January. Not for anything specific now, just for down the road.
I want to do Pentest + because it looks like fun. The performance based questions are like little CTF challenges.
OK, just passed Security +. It was no fucking fun at all. Holy crap, it sucked.
But it's a good general cert that can help in a few IT roles. maybe extra money...
I was going to do Pentest + because it's software I already know and something I like doing but everybody wants to be a hacker. Pentesting is super niche with limited jobs and lots of applicants. Even if I want to compete for a pen testing job, the Comptia cert looks really puny next to others like the CEH that cost thousands of dollars.
I need to sharpen up skills that are more widely marketable. I was thinking about some Microsoft certs so I spun up a 2019 Server to work with Active Directory management.
I created a user. His name is Tim, he's a transvestite. He is in a group that has permissions to access the network printer.
