People forget. Just like they forgot how Trump earlier this year did everything he could to downplay and blow off the coronavirus outbreak, leading to his approval ratings bizarrely going up once he started going through the motions of taking it seriously. I don't know if he'll end up taking votes away from Biden, but anyone who's dumb enough to vote for Kanye fucking West is presumably going to have completely forgotten how supportive he was of Trump.

All of The Donald's radicalized rednecks completely forgot how supportive he was of their hated Lizard Hillary.

Of course, people in general have forgotten all about the pussy grabbin, multiple bankruptcies, his promise to release his tax returns, dissing war vets, praising dictators, etc, etc..

Its none of our business who American's choose as their leader. We don't get a vote and we should respect their choice, even if its a dumb one.

When the world's most sophisticated and powerful nuclear arsenal falls into the hands of a rich, spoiled, corrupt, pussy grabbing, draft dodging, Hillary supporting, man-child, the whole planet should be concerned.  With a corrupt Attorney General and a majority in the legislators, the checks and balances have been removed.

Fortunately, he's an incompetent buffoon who hasn't really been able to accomplish anything more than a tax break for billionaires even with a majority in the house and the Senate.

And before the Junior Republican Incels start going on about how unfair the liberal media is to poor Donald, this pattern has gone on all his life. He is a half century of scandal, bankruptcy and bullshit.

Trump's history of racism laid out in this Twitter thread

Yeah, here is Trump posing with some notorious racists...the bastard.

I mean, Jesus...look how they're plotting more racist deeds to do...

Dude,  every black person in that picture says Trump is a racist.

He wanted a photo with all the black people in his administration but there was only one.

If Twitter went away, the Kardashians could still post pictures of their butts and boobs on Instagram and there'd be one less media channel for the federal government to spew its propaganda. I think I'd be okay with all that.

This is the Richard Nixon Paradigm recreating itself. When evidence of Nixon's corruption first surfaced all the Republicans circled to defend him. All the conservatives said it was an attack on America from the liberal jackals. As the evidence grew, their defense became more intense. Then Nixon started firing investigators, trying to shut down TV stations and the Republicans started to get concerned. That's where we are right now. The Republican Party is watching Trump start to melt down and they're starting to wonder if they want to be part of it.

Idiot.

In fucked up countries where the government controls the media, this is how it starts.

I have spent some time on boats also. They do use flat Maps. But they have a different map for the Southern Hemisphere and a different map for the Northern Hemisphere.

The mariners' operating in the Southern Hemisphere know their actual, physical travel distances as accurately as Mariners operating in the North.

I've never seen a flat Earth Map that accurately depicts travel distances in the southern hemisphere.

You see all, I have struck at the heart of the issue for all of you here, decrying Trump, regardless of the issue.

If the media really had a problem with what he says or how he says it, the simplest way to handle it would be...stop.

Just do not give him the platform.

According to you guys, he's a joke anyway.

Just plain stupid, you say!

Well, who is the stupid ones here?

Or, maybe the media isn't stupid.

Maybe... they are in on it too...just one big tail wagging the dog in the ultimate show.

This has nothing to do with the media. They're just someone else for him to blame like Obama, the ukrainians and wind turbines.
His entire public life is over a half-century of financial, personal and spiritual failure. This idea that he's a self-made successful millionaire is mythological BS.

His power doesn't come from the media. It comes from millions of radicalized ignorant rednecks who don't understand they're being scammed. His supporters don't understand that he is making fun of them, he's mocking them, he's laughing at them just the way he did when he fleeced the suckers from Trump University.

Before getting in the White House, his highest level political activity was giving money to Hillary Clinton.

Now that he's driven everyone with any competence or Integrity out of the White House, his administration has been a revolving door Freak Show.

Remember Omarosa and da mooch?

Just like Nixon, eventually even the most hardcore trumpian will begin to understand it was all a scam.

You have a lot to learn about interfaith dialogue. While it is true that some denominations of religion propose a "believe or get fucked" approach, most of the "big" ones largely agree on the lines of "there is one god/pantheon and names don't matter - be a good person and don't be a cynical atheist and you're cool"

That's what I want to believe but the Christians I know don't buy it. They say that hippy-dippy pantheist propaganda is a lie Satan tells to capture our soul. The Christian posters on this forum warn us regularly that Satan is everywhere.

The fact is that before you can believe in the salvation of Jesus, you have to first believe in the damnation of humanity. It is a foundation of their faith that all people except Christians will burn in Hell unless you pledge fealty or send money. If I say that about Jews or Muslims, it's hate speech, their hate extends to all people.
I'm sure a Christian will come along to say they're all about love even while they condemn us to Hell for eternity.

Over the course of my life, I've studied up on many of the world's religions but none of them met my spiritual needs. So I made up my own religion and let me tell you, my religion kicks ass. We have love, parties, girls and I'm the Pope. It's pretty sweet.

So the question boils down to: could we somehow distinguish between an advanced being and a God? If not, then I must conclude that we could end up worshipping an evil advanced being.

These ideas trouble me...

The really big question is, "What's this being's name?"  Whether it's Yaweh, Allah, Vishnu, Xenu or whatever will determine who's going to Hell.

I want to believe in aliens as much as the next guy but it's starting to look like it's not going to happen. Our exoplanet research is starting to show that our cosmos is a cesspool. We've found that planets and stars can exist in a lot of nasty configurations that we didn't think about and only one tiny sliver of probabilities produced us.

Given the vastness of the universe, yeah, there's probably life out there. Given the data we've seen so far, I'm guessing the Drake equation will solve for about one civilization per galaxy. We're alone as we can be without actually being alone.

I don't believe these videos actually show extraterrestrials. It's probably something normal like scouts from a civilization deep under ground, maybe inter-dimensional bigfoots, or technology from the advanced civilization of Wakanda. It could be ghost whales or angel chariots.

It sucks that I'll never get to actually have sex with a hot alien chick but at least I don't have to worry about some creature humping my face and laying its eggs in my body.

I don’t think they’re gonna bite on this grenade idea, bro. Let’s move on.

Yeah.....   I have tried a medieval catapult, astronaut throwing a baseball, the recoil of a shotgun. Apparently, it is only rocket engines for which the physics of momentum begin to breakdown.

Enough of this highfalutin, book learned, ciphering!

If the explosive reaction of a hand grenade will do work in a vacuum, why won't the explosive reaction of a rocket engine do work?

If I wanted do a bunch of math, I would have been a scientist.

All the jibber jabber can be boiled down to one simple principle of physics.

If you detonate a hand grenade in a vacuum will the expanding energy and gas do the work of driving the shrapnel in all directions?

Why not?

Flat Earth Community / Re: More fake moon landing proof.

Wrong...just totally wrong...

Any gas released to a vacuum does 0 work.

No matter how you try to fluff it up or otherwise hold on to your fantasy.

Look at all the videos provided here for plain visual proof you are wrong.

So again, just to be clear, if you're floating in space sitting on a hand grenade and we detonate it, you will not move?

No work will be done?

This isn't a stupid question. There are natural disinfectants that the body produces that are bad for viruses.

Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide drops are also a thing.

I have to admit, Tom's explanation of Trump sounds a lot more intelligent than what the Republican Party said about Trump's comment. Even though Tom's quoting an article from a publication that has been busted for BS in the past and publishes articles with no author names or citations, it is still more believable than, "He was being sarcastic."

What makes the question stupid is that Trump was surrounded by people who studied these things for decades and he thinks Lysol is a brilliant new breakthrough idea.

Holy Crap!  We never thought of that.

So an astronaut floating in space can throw a baseball and it'll fly away from him.  But if he sets that baseball on a hand grenade and detonates it, the baseball will stand still?

Avenue 5, sci-fi comedy on HBO
(very minor spoilers from the first few episodes, nothing big. You'll get over it.)

When I first noticed the promo trailers for HBO's sci-fi comedy, Avenue 5, I got the impression of a sleek starship and a dashing space hero captain like a Star Trek type scenario but nothing is as it seems.

The show is set in the not too distant future aboard a luxury space liner that takes wealthy people, thousands at a time, on spectacular three week tours of Saturn's rings. But like the Hindenburg or Titanic, whenever you have a bunch of selfish, rich assholes partying in absolute poshness, bitching about things that don't even rank as first world problems, there is a smack down coming.

Everything changes in the first episode when a gravity disaster slams everyone on board against the side of the ship, killing people and sending it off course. Instead of three weeks, they are now facing three years and the luxury quickly starts to decay. In an attempt to give their dead a dignified 'burial at sea,' they launch the dead bodies into space only to have them get caught in the ship's artificial gravity field and perpetually circle the ship in a low orbit. A massive sewage tank leak spews millions of tons of shit into space which now hangs around the ship like Saturn's rings. The large panoramic windows that use to show spectacular scenery now show a constant rain of turds punctuated by an occasional dead body floating by.

There is a sense of dystopia in the utter stupidity of humans in general. The passengers find to their horror that the captain is actually just an actor playing a captain who finds (to his horror) that his entire command crew is just actors operating the bridge of the ship which is just a sound stage equipped with consoles and computers that aren't connected to anything. The entire ship is automated and the only people aboard who know anything about space travel is a half dozen maintenance workers in the bowels of the lower decks. As an extra twist of social commentary, the owner of the space liner corporation (an Elon Musk type douchebag) is trapped on board also. His childish arrogance and stupidity has him rejecting Nasa's offer of engineering and resources to help rescue the ship.

A lot of the humor is dark but well written and comments on human dumbassness. A group of loudmouth, know-it-all passengers decides that the whole ship is fake and rises up. "They're lying to us! They want to keep us here! We're still on Earth! We can leave anytime!" So they pile into the airlock and are instantly freeze dried to death in front of a crowd of onlookers. Another asshole yells out, "It's a trick! I work in VFX! That's Visual Effects! I know what I'm talking about! It's all fake!" So another batch of dumbasses gets in the airlock and dies. The scene is a little creepy and could be horrific but let's face it, it's hilarious when dumbass know-it-alls get what they deserve.

HBO spent a lot of money on talent and production so the show is very polished with nice special effects. If you have HBO and liked the old Red Dwarf, you should definitely check it out. The science isn't as tight as Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy but it's accurate enough so it doesn't take away from the story.

meh... I would give him and the media a break. If he didn't talk about FE theory, he would have been just another daredevil with a rocket like Evel Knievel. Johnny Knoxville was almost killed in a rocket stunt during one of the Jackass movies. If he had died, it would have been for the cause of low brow entertainment. This guy really believed in a cause.

Anyone could have told him that his rocket designs were stupid and dangerous (I'm sure many did) but I don't think he would have stopped. If I was there I would have told him it was dangerous but if he insisted on doing it anyway, I would have definitely been in the front row, recording with my cell phone.

It's weird how this thread is so quiet right now. I was sure a gang of drunken soccer hooligans would have spray painted "IN YUR FACE REMOANERS!!!" all over it by now.

The plan actually works for now and the availability and export price of Curly Wurlys won't get too screwed up so I'm all good. They have a year to update the infrastructures and negotiate trade deals while the citizens get to breathe free and all. They did the easy part of the divorce, saying 'Talaq' three times.

But if it's like American politicians, they may struggle uselessly for a year then have to come up with some short term patch to fight off trade constipation.

All this talk of freedom and sovereignty is getting the Scotts all riled up about independence again. Do they call that Scexit or UKexit?
