Flat Earth Theory / Photo from Plane Proves the Earth Is Round
« on: November 27, 2024, 05:44:53 AM »
I live in North Carolina. Recently, I flew out to New Haven, Connecticut, to visit family and decided to take some photos along the way that unequivocally demonstrate the rotundity of this planet. Here's one out of the batch.

Here are the specifics for those who care: I took Avelo flight XP676 from RDU to HVN on Nov 21, 2024. Here is a playback of the flight from Flightradar24. I took this image with my iPhone 15 Pro Back "Main" Camera with a 6.765 mm focal length (which provides the same FOV as a 24 mm lens on a 35 mm full-frame camera) at f/1.78.

The full EXIF data for this photo are available here.

What you see here is the curvature of the Earth. But, just to further verify, with my image's altitude and FOV information, I also wanted to toss this into Walter Bislin's "Finding the Curvature of the Earth" app to see how it aligns, and it is beautifully exact.  ;)

I would like to say, before anyone from the FE side of this forum responds, please ask yourself: "What evidence could ever change my mind?" Because here, I am certain, we have photographic proof that is even further verified by external data and a predictive model. I only care to discuss with people who are interested in evidence and truth. I am not interested in a discussion with apologists who make it their life's mission to defend their beliefs and conclusions at all costs. I do not care for preconceived narratives, nor will I spend time entertaining them.

If there's any other helpful information I can provide to clarify or support this, I'm more than willing and happy to do so. :)

Flat Earth Theory / Phases of Venus & Lunar Eclipses on Other Planets
« on: December 18, 2022, 11:37:20 AM »
Hey! I am not a flat Earther by any means. I am not here to be rude or anything of that nature. I want to ask a genuine question that flat Earthers have always struggled to explain to me. I thought asking on the forum dedicated to flat Earth believers might actually get me an answer to my question. A little bit about myself before I start, my name is Everette and I am a 15-year-old amateur astrophotographer. I image deep space objects, such as nebulae and galaxies, and venture into planetary, solar, and lunar imaging. A lot of people insult my knowledge based on my age, and I do not wish for that. I want an in-depth answer (if possible) while keeping it civil and restraining insults. My questions are, what are the explanations for the phases of Venus and the existence of lunar eclipses on the moons of other planets? Venus is not currently at a good time to see a blatantly obvious phase, so I will use someone else's image from around July of this year. This is an amateur planetary photographer like myself, and they are not someone lying to you or creating fake images.

Here's another Venus image from someone else from January of this year.

Here's a video of one of Jupiter's Galileon moons, Ganymede, being eclipsed by Jupiter on September 17 of this year. Again, this is not my video, because I was unfortunately not lucky enough to have clear conditions this night, but is still an amateur planetary photographer like myself. (I'm still really devastated over this night lol)

Any explanations are greatly appreciated! Thank you, if you took the time to examine or respond to my post.

Flat Earth Theory / Scales on Maps
« on: May 16, 2022, 06:39:29 AM »
I am not a flat earther. I am not hating or downing flat earthers whatsoever. I have one simple question that kind of confuses me about flat earth maps. I personally just want to be more educated on both sides of the whole debate. How come there are never fully-functional scales on flat earth maps? Like an accurate scale that could tell me which way would be faster to get from Germany to Russia on a globe map and a flat earth map. Which route would be faster? I am sorry if this post offends anyone, and I am sorry that it is not long and that it does not explain very well.
