I'd be more interested in a point load by those button cut outs.
I wonder how much of an effect moving the power button from the top to the side opposite the volume buttons has to do with this issue.

This is what cases are for.
If you are going to DebOOonK an expert then you have to at least provide a source with credentials of equal or greater relevance. Even then, it merely shows that some experts disagree with each other.
