Don't need them now anyway. And its nice to know most of the followers are people although we have a background bot rate of about 8%. Which is by and large very good.

I'm not sure how to find those bots, it doesn't tell me, but I'll look to have a clear out some time.

It has taken about a year, but we have gone from under 30 to 1,000. A real milestone, and hoping the next year will bring us up to 5,000.

Getting going was very hard and no one wanted to follow an account with under 100 followers and we didn't seem very official. We have added more than 250 in the last month. Hopefully that will translate into traffic for this site and people genuinely interested in the messages TFES offers.

I know I'm a bit of an odd-ball, but thank you all for trusting me with a social media account. :D

No idea how PP has facebook up to almost 10,000.

But 1000 is a landmark.

Puts us in the top 3% of all twitter accounts.

I think it's just a difference in medium. It seems that "liking" a FB page requires much less involvement than following a Twitter account. Facebook is much less personal, and much more mass-broadcast-oriented.

Well its a good time for a Twitter update.

First the headline news. Today we overtook theflatearthsociety.org's Twitter page in terms of followers.  :D

Its been a long road. I had tweeted almost every day for over a year, but we now have our noses in front and I don't see Wilmore doing anything to reverse the trend. I've also managed it in about a third as many tweets and a quarter of the time.

We seem to have a lot of momentum. We are making about 200-300 new followers a day. At this rate we'll catch Mr Dubay with his 9,500 followers in about a month.

As social media goes, this one is quite important. Twitter is the thing journalists use when making stories. To them a large twitter following is proof of everything, as shown in the video below. In future, we will get a lot more reporters using us as the example, thanks to a superior following and Blanko's nice design that makes all our sites look and feel the same. So the future is bright.

I was annoyed at the timing of this video. It came about a month too soon. See around the 2:30 mark.

Things learned.
I get much more response on tweets that are specific to us. IE original content, even if it is just linking my Eurovision thread or the excellent flat earth Mapping thread being done. Linking a youtube video or news article has much less impact. Problem is am a bit short on original content, but ho-hum.

Now we have followers, people copy us in to all kinds of rants in order to get us to join in, which is nice and so more people see the account and follow.

Whilst I never make religious tweets, we have a lot of religious accounts following us.

I accidentally followed some Kuwaiti pornsters back a few weeks ago and they invited all their friends to follow us. The feed was chock-a-block with enormous willies which was quite unpleasant. Only I could see them - no one else would know I had this problem, so I've spent the last few weeks blocking Kuwaiti sausages to make Twitter bearable for me to carry on using.

Anyway, that's pretty much it. Update complete. Oh, and if you haven't followed, Th*rking follow like the other 5000 odd people!  >o<

Hey, nicely done! Our Facebook is unfortunately massively lagging behind the other society once again (mostly my fault - I've been inactive recently. I'll do my best to address that). I'm glad to see other channels are doing better!
