Flat Earth Investigations / iSpace lunar lander images of Earth
« on: April 25, 2023, 07:06:49 PM »
Dear respected members of the flat earth forum,

I hope this message finds you well. The purpose of this post is to foster a constructive discussion surrounding the iSpace lunar lander photographs, which were captured from behind the moon and depict Earth as a small, blue sphere. These images have captured the interest of many, and as such, it would be valuable to gain insights from the flat earth community.

To facilitate an open and respectful dialogue, it would be helpful for knowledgeable members of this community to provide scientific explanations that reconcile these lunar lander images with the flat earth perspective.

Additionally, it is intriguing to consider the motivations behind a private, commercial company like iSpace potentially faking the round Earth imagery. What could drive an entire organization to perpetuate the round earth narrative, and how would it benefit them? Insights into these motivations would be greatly appreciated, as they contribute to a broader understanding of this complex subject.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to engaging in a fruitful discussion and learning from the diverse perspectives of this community.

"What Crew Mission" was a comment you had posted earlier within this thread.
In response to the promotional photos being passed off as crew mission photos by the OP.
I can only gather from your comment that you were implying that the crew mission that went to space never happened.
I keep trying to encourage you to either improve your gathering skills or remain off the board.

Cause neither one is working.
Which is prompting my question back to you: what observation evidence / research can you provide that shows that when the Inspiration 4 crew rocket launched, that the Mission did not exist.
Which prompt my response back to you.

Quit strawmanning and gaslighting.

Just to be clear I wasn't intentionally trying to pass the promotional materials off as real, also to the best of my knowledge neither has SpaceX. When looking for photos from the mission I found those first and mistook them for mission photos. It was an honest mistake and I would like for it to not derail the discussion.

There are plenty of mission photos posted by SpaceX now. It would be much more interesting to discuss those photos rather than focus on my initial mistake.

If you follow any space news you will have heard about SpaceX's Inspiration4 mission by now. This mission is particularly interesting for a few reasons: The capsule is crewed entirely by civilians, it's flying higher than the ISS and every other mission since Hubble, and the crew will be at that altitude for three days straight.

SpaceX has been sharing photos and videos from the flight this morning, suffice to say the curvature of the earth is clearly visible.

Netflix also has a documentary about the events leading up to this flight. https://www.netflix.com/title/81441273

As spaceflight costs come down and these commercial flights become more commonplace, it's increasing important for the flat earth community to have a clear rebuttal to this type of evidence.

BWHAHAHA!!!

You're actually gonna try and tell us these photos were taken in space?

That is absolutely hilarious!!!

I went back and found a source for the photos, looks like they were used as promotional material prior to launch. Good eye.

If your claims to accuracy are correct, then it is still entirely possible to predict satellite position with a FE model. The satellites can be circling in the firmament and recieving signals in just the same way that they are with a RE model. I don't see the issue.

If this is true then it is actually a very exciting discovery for flat earth theory. This website is able to both accurately predict the position of the satellites in the sky AND mark the positions of the satellites on a globe. Assuming the speed of each satellite is constant and their movement within the firmament is circular, we should be able use this information to create an accurate map of the flat earth. With several data points we could calculate a linear transformation that transforms the globe map into a flat earth map. Given the accuracy of the satellite position data it may well be the most accurate map of the flat earth ever created.

7
RE is not required to predict celestial motion. The Ancient Babylonians did it and they believed that the earth was flat, and had no geometrical scheme of planetary or lunar motion behind their predictions.

Sure that's true, but satellites aren't celestial. The Spacex satellites are particularly interesting because they form constellations and are clearly man-made.

If you go outside at the time listed for your location you can see a long strings of many satellites flying through the sky, and unlike airplanes they are completely silent.

How is it possible that 10 objects could be visibly flying through the sky, in a straight line, and make no noise? And not only that some armature's website is able to predict their location with pinpoint accuracy.

8
So I've found this site which accurately predicts the position of satellites passing overhead. I went outside last night and sure enough it works.

This tool is clearly using a round earth model to predict the positions of the ISS, star link satellites, etc. And it gets everything right, right down to the satellite positions relative to the trees in my front yard.

My question is how can they make predicts like this if they started with an inaccurate globe model?

The initial question was related to the curvature seen in the initial video, and how that could be explained by a proponent FE. My contention was that the OP presumed that the validity of the video was not in question. But as I don't find the video in question to be valid, the apparent shape of the earth shown in a fake video is largely irrelevant.

This topic has since between widened to now say 'what are the motivations for faking a video like this' - which is an entirely different topic.

As you've said, there's very little to discuss. I don't think what is being shown in this particular video is real, and I'm not interested in endlessly speculating as to why SpaceX would produce it.

I think we're done here.

You are under no obligation to participate. My questions still stand as posed.

10
The basis of why this would be faked isn't the topic of this discussion. Perhaps make a topic around the purpose of faking 'space' missions? That might yield some of the answers you're looking for.

I got 92%.

Actually, the topic of the discussion is in the OP: The curvature of the earth clearly visible...flat surfaces of the ISS are also visible...no lens distortion...how explained by FET?

Is your explanation: The video is fake therefore the ISS and the curve seen are fake?

My explanation would be closer to 'if the video is fake, then discussing any specific detail within it is irrelevant.' Like discussing how 'realistic' Star Wars is.

The discussion parameters have been changed. The OP would rather discuss the motives behind faking a space video, rather than its legitimacy. I imagine the answer is fairly simple... 'to make people think that the space video - and everything contained within it - is real.' To what end? Speculation: to further the narrative that we are conducting space missions.

But unfortunately, we're no longer discussing a specific video, but instead we're dealing with hypothetical motives of faking media. I'd have preferred the OP to create a new thread for people to speculate the motives of SpaceX in, and I'd have decided if I wanted to participate.

Airplane "widened" the discussion to "include" the motive(s). So in addition to the curvature issue raised in the OP not instead of. You are not forced to discuss a motive. But sometimes if there is a crime, in this case, potential fakery, it helps to examine the why to potentially lend more credence to what is actually in question.

Again, I'm not sure what you want to discuss. I guess questions are, do you believe that space exploration is not real and that notion is perpetuated based upon your belief that the video is fake? And specifically, aside from the ISS looking vaguely like a model to you in the video, do you have anything directly you'd like to point to? Like why it looks like a model? Or are there other indicators that make it seem so to you, visible wires, lighting, other evidence, etc.,? Are other videos less or more convincing? Just saying, "It looks fake," doesn't offer a lot up to discuss.

This is correct. I would prefer the discussion operate under the assumption that the video is real, but barring that, the specifics of how someone would go about faking a video is less interesting to me than why SpaceX would choose to fake this particular mission.

11

I got 92%.

As OP I have widened the topic of discussion to include SpaceX and its motives for faking a video like this. I believe it is core to the topic at hand.

It is especially pertinent given that the initial consensus of this thread is that the video is fake. Barring an investigation into how a video like this could be explained with flat earth theory I would rather this thread focus on why such a video would be fabricated. I feel like that would be more engaging than bickering over who can best recognize cgi.

12
Adding that not only does it look fake to me
So what's your reference frame here? You say it "looks fake". Based on what?
What experience of seeing space ships docks with other space ships do you have which could mean you can accurately assess this?
The only other experience you can possibly have are Hollywood films which actually are fake.
So other than a vague assertion that it "looks fake", which is entirely subjective and not based on much I'm not sure what you're arguing here.

You're correct - we have 'actual' fakes (Hollywood movies) - which look like the video posted by the OP. Hollywood movies actually look better. So there's one reference frame.

What's yours, based on your experience of seeing space ships dock with other spaceships?

The lighting and appearance of the video aside, can we talk about the logistics of faking something like this?

I think we can all agree that SpaceX does actually launch rockets. Anyone can go to Florida and observe the launches. These aren't small rockets either, the rocket which launched this capsule is roughly the height of a 21 story building.

My question is why would a private company (which needs to make money to continue existing) spend billions of dollars repeatedly launching a giant rocket into space solely to pretend dock with the ISS?

Another thing to remember is that this isn't a one off event. SpaceX routinely launches crew dragon to the ISS.

13
SpaceX recently posted this video to their official twitter feed. Not only is the curvature of the earth clearly visible, but the flat surfaces of the ISS are also visible which may rule out lens distortion as an explanation for the curve.

How is this phenomenon best explained by modern flat earth theory?

Update:
This thread may also be used to discuss why SpaceX as a private company would choose to spend resources on a fake a mission to the ISS.

14
SpaceX has built an online ISS docking simulator so you can experience what it is like to dock to the ISS from Crew Dragon. Included with the simulator is an option to change the shape of the earth, and by extension the behaviour of gravity. It also provides a nice illustration of what a flat earth would actually look like from the ISS.

Sorry, I have to disagree. The camera lenses distorted the view heavily. From one view, the curvature was greater than even the GET predicts, from the other, the Earth even appeared to have slight negative curvature.

The SpaceX live stream is currently showing a view of dragon docked with the ISS. You can clearly see the curvature of the earth, as well as the ISS's flat solar panels which rules out a fish eye camera. Either SpaceX is broadcasting a doctored video stream or the earth is round.

Edit: Launch aborted due to poor weather conditions, but question still stands.

This is the first time humans will fly on a spacex rocket. Live stream here:

Flat Earth Theory / Car in Space

Space X did a live stream of a car being launched into space on a rocket. In the video the earth is clearly round. Why/how would they fake this?

What do you think society would look like if NASA stopped deceiving people into believing the earth is round?

This is not what we believe.

https://wiki.tfes.org/The_Conspiracy

Fair enough, but that not what I was getting at with my question, so let me rephrase it. How would the world be a better place if everyone believed in a flat earth? Why does it matter?

What do you think society would look like if NASA stopped deceiving people into believing the earth is round? Would technology be more advanced than is is now? Would understanding the unique place the earth occupies in the universe lead people to act with better morals and more integrity?

Starting with faulty assumptions leads to faulty results. The widespread misconception that the earth is round must surely be slowing scientific progress and hampering the spread of human rights. What do you think?
