Because you don't travel up with the earth and the air. An aircraft is designed to hold its altitude above the earth using those large things sicking out of either side. Aerospace professionals call them wings.  ::)

Then the same logic should apply when I jump. The air should be moving with the earth and I shouldn't hit the ground.
So you are the same as an aircraft? You have wings?

The reason you fall to earth is that you fall THROUGH the air that travels with the earth. An aircraft does not. It flies.

Exactly. Logic dictates, by their own explanation, that a plane would be hit by the earth's upward momentum.
Logic? Don't confuse your poor powers of reasoning with an irrefutable paradigm like logic. Logic means that all the relevant information is known to form a conclusion. You don't know your arse from your elbow. Junk in, junk out.

Again, the air surrounding the aircraft is moving WITH the earth.

How about you read the FAQ, and then ask why no one can be bothered to answer your question?

For the same reason that if the earth is spinning at 1000mph, planes and helicopters aren't instantly supersonic the moment they leave the surface.

Yes, you can divide stars up and chop and change them to fit your agenda. But below is a full star map. All the stars as they appear overhead.

I have circled Polaris and Acrux for you. You really don't have to chop the sky into hemispheres unless you have an agenda. Note my nice straight grid lines ... as you see them. Not bent into two circles as your awful galactic charts show.

« on: April 25, 2019, 11:55:42 PM »
I hope no one minds if i make a single attempt to stick this back on track.

I am really trying to find anything that Rowbotham wrote about his personal life or that was written about his life by another author.

Does anyone know where Garwood got the stuff about his childhood and schooling, for instance?
How are we supposed to know what you are looking for, when everything you ask for is very easy to find?

Want to know what the press said about him?
http://www.sacred-texts.com/earth/za/za67.htm

Want a different book other than Garwoods?
https://www.cantab.net/users/michael.behrend/ebooks/PlaneTruth/pages/Chapter_01.html

Just want a synopsis?
https://everything.explained.today/Samuel_Rowbotham/

Want proof he was a Dr of Medicine ... (for some reason this comes up a lot) ... an official patent acceptance
https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=CwcLAQAAIAAJ&pg=PA236&dq=samuel+rowbotham&hl=en&ei=HLutTu3iJsGx8gOK3JS4Cw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CDgQ6AEwAg#v=onepage&q=samuel%20rowbotham&f=false

Want to see one of his inventions?

You want to go and dig him up to make sure he was real?
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/7368594/samuel-rowbotham

Note the gravestone also details his medical credentials.

What do you want? And why are you incapable of finding it?

Go and look at hard facts.

Look at his list of patents. You can see what he invented.
Check out Edinburgh University's info on him and his research on human brains.
You can find things online such as labels for his products like Dr Birley's Phosphorus Tonic.
You can see his grave stone.
Legal documents pertaining to his house, his children (their death certificates etc), any law suits.

Basically check public records. Then you can match that to accounts like Garwood's and realise or rather wonder where the hell she gets her stupid ideas.

Rey needs to ditch the storm trooper and get with the wookie. He's tall, strong, there's plenty to hang on to and he's a hero. Unlike the boring trooper. He'd also make a cool noise when he empties his nuts.

How is Tesla not world leaders in electric and autonomy.

Well, because their products are shit.

Tesla is funded by Elon’s own personal funds and several private investors.
Investors who want that money back.
https://www.thedrive.com/tech/24261/elon-musk-and-10-billion-of-debt-why-tesla-will-go-bankrupt-in-2019

And you can’t say space x get their tech from nasa.
Ok, what if Bill Nye says it and Neil De Grasse Tyson agrees?

Space x actually developed their own engines and had to develop the insanely complex software to land their rockets.
The Merlin uses a pintle injector, a design first used in the Lunar Module Descent Engine, developed from original work at Caltech and JPL. Its design was publicised as U.S. Patent 3,699,772.

To this day SpaceX are still being given nasa tech.
https://www.inverse.com/article/15272-nasa-releases-rocket-and-aircraft-patents-for-spacex-and-blue-origin-to-sink-teeth-into

It’s a private company and you say Elon will do what ever nasa tells him..... Evidence? Can you show anything that Elon is NASA’s dog?
I said SpaceX is the US government's dog. Not NASA's.

SpaceX is all about getting that juicy tax payer money
https://arstechnica.com/science/2017/07/spacex-urges-lawmakers-to-commercialize-deep-space-exploration/

And Tesla is all about juicy Federal Reserve money.
https://seekingalpha.com/article/4109240-tesla-monster-fed-created-may-ultimately-destroy

Neither are good businesses.

Now, look at all the sources I gave you. I backed everything i said with evidence. I don't want an Elon musk fanboy ranting reply. I want hard evidence for every single statement you make because Elon Musk fanboys are tiresome and deluded.

Tesla are not world leaders in electric cars. They aren't world leaders in autonomous cars either.

Space X got all its technology from NASA. Much like Boeing and Lockheed do. Its a way to get tax payers to pay for the R&D of a private corporation ... anywhere else in the world we call it state aid and its illegal.

Musk is the most in bed with government person i can think of. He gets government technology, he gets FED printed dollar bills as the FED buys up his stock so that the FED monetises its paper and Tesla has unlimited cash flowing in. Tesla is one of the most shorted stocks in history. Why? Because private investors know that Tesla isn't going to amount to much. They all know its going to collapse. It makes no money, the battery technology actually belongs to Panasonic and the cars themselves aren't very good. They have lots of build quality issues. But the price remains high because the FED stands behind Tesla filling it to the gills with its printing press. However, a change  in policy from the FED (it actually used to be illegal for the FED to buy stocks) and you'd see Tesla go to the wall in a matter of minutes. That's what the short-sellers are betting on.

So, should a man so utterly dependant on the government for all his businesses be likely to whistle blow on something like a flat earth? Not a chance. He's going to do whatever the government tells him.

Well it has been asked if Stephen Hawking was actually in control of the voice on his chair, or whether it was just being fed messages from government officials. It would have been the ultimate act of cruelty for him not to have been able to scream out and tell people that the lies from the chair were others pretending to be him for wicked purposes. His own private hell.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Planetary orbits

Yuck. That shows the planets orbiting the sun. Most flat earther's subscribe to everything 'orbiting' the earth. The earth is the big thing, it is the centre of the universe. So the planets travel in Spirograph type patterns, consistent with the celestial gearing theory.

I really want to see if Flat Earthers think anti-vaxxers are stupid.

Aside from Thork: they do.
I'm sorry I don't see the world as black and white. That instead of "everyone will die if we don't do this" I consider annoying problems like the cost of vaccinating those with perfectly good immune systems or the rise in drug resistant strains of common diseases. It is almost as if I don't want to waste money, that I want people to have strong immune systems, to reduce allergies and that I want these drugs to work for people who actually need them. I'm a monster.  >o<

My problem is not vaccination ... it is mass over vaccination. Vaccinating everyone for everything. A government program to enrich pharma companies. Vaccinate against meningitis? Sure. Vaccinate children from measles? Erm, no.

Maybe one day Lord Dave will educate me and I'll be fully on board with making sure no old lady ever has to blow her nose again.

Flat Earth Investigations / Re: Round Earth proof - comments?
« on: March 29, 2019, 05:08:45 PM »
???

But he aligns the sundials with MAGNETIC north. That's the offset. Magnetic north is not some point in the infinite distance. It is a place on earth. If I point my sundial in London to the same place as you point yours in California ... are those sundials aligned parallel, round earth or flat? The guy is in Canada for Pete's sake. That's going to give him quite an offset. He needs to make sure they are pointing to the same place.

Not true north. Not magnetic north. Not grid north. They all bend around to face a point. Pointing with respect to a place infinitely far away in the same direction. He could have line them both up with a star for an instantaneous money shot, for example.

Of course finding a star during the day is going to be a problem ... but its round earth's problem. Maybe you could line them up the night before ... and then do the experiment the next day.

But then I might challenge if the stars are really billions of miles away ... because round earth has the distance of the sun wrong too.

You are right and I am wrong. At 5:40 in the video he says the sundials are lined up with the road and lined up with each other. I assumed that was what he had done but he hadn't. He didn't try to line the sundials up with the road. If he had, he would have found that the compass bearings were different for the reasons you have stated. I humbly submit that I was wrong and consider myself schooled ;)

What I have found though is that you can still do Eratosthenes' experiment if the road is completely straight. But you have to throw away the compass. You don't need an external reference. If the two sundials are perfectly parallel to the road and the shadow goes down the middle of the base of one, it does go down the middle of the base of the other. Not surprising because light from the sun travels in a straight line, at least horizontally. At any time of the year, when this happens next to that road, the difference in elevation is 1.22°. For example, these are two points on that road 135.596km apart (according to GPS):

https://www.suncalc.org/#/50.4229,-104.5336,14/2019.06.23/10:57/1/3
https://www.suncalc.org/#/49.68,-103.0324,16/2019.06.23/10:57/1/3

According to Eratosthenes' formula, this makes the circumference of the Earth:

360 / 1.22 * 135.689 = 40011km.

Very, very close to the accepted number. Unfortunately for me, the shadows go down the middle of the bases at the same time on a round Earth too so my proof of a round Earth, as you already know, is garbage.

That is probably the most gracious defeat accepted by anyone on this site for a very long time. I tip my new hat to you (I stole it from Jeppspace's flaccid corpse).

Flat Earth Investigations / Re: Every map of China is wrong
« on: March 28, 2019, 07:56:50 PM »
Interesting. Although I wouldn't say this is a reason to believe it's possible for google maps to be wrong everywhere, since everywhere else maps do just work while as is very evident from this video, people know full well that the maps in china are wrong and can see that for themselves. It's also a written law and everyone can look it up so it's no secret even if people (including myself) were oblivious to this.

Basically, just because this area of the map is documented as wrong doesn't mean everywhere else is. Still an interesting thing to learn though thanks for showing the video!
The point is, these maps also work in China. Its not like they don't have sat nav in their cars. They just overlay the algorithm and the people are non the wiser.

Not surprising that China would do something like that.  During the Cold War, the former Soviet Union did pretty much the same thing.  They had highly detailed maps for the military, but deliberately distorted civilian maps so that they were pretty much useless for navigation lest they fall into enemy hands.

Worse, the maps for the masses were deliberately distorted with a special projection that introduced random variations. “The main goal was to crush the contents of maps so it would be impossible to recreate the real geography of a place from the map,” Postnikov tells me. Well-known landmarks like rivers and towns were depicted, but the coordinates, directions, and distances were all off, making them useless for navigation or military planning, should they fall into enemy hands. The cartographer who devised this devious scheme was awarded the State Prize by Stalin.
Then please don't ever argue black is white with me again that GPS maps prove earth is round.

Flat Earth Investigations / Every map of China is wrong
« on: March 28, 2019, 07:22:35 PM »
Yeah, sounds like a bold claim but is a fact.

I find this interesting because so often round earthers claim "but google maps, but satellite images". In this video you can see not only do the Chinese alter all the maps with algorithms for foreigners so that nothing is where they say it is, they also bend the satellite images as well for the domestic market.

It is therefore no stretch to posit that you could indeed warp both the satellite image and the map into any shape you want. Say from a flat earth into a round one.

The Chinese use lots of these algorithms such as GCJ-02 or BD-09 on almost a company by company basis. Why on earth would I trust WGS-84 as being the correct one just because it is the US standard?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restrictions_on_geographic_data_in_China#GCJ-02
