Flat Earth Theory / Re: Islam and Flat Earth
« on: December 06, 2015, 07:37:28 AM »
I understand people interpret sacred texts differently. This seems to me a remedial observation. I'm searching for documentation.

Did christianity ever 'actively' teach that the earth was/is flat? Some places, sure. But as a whole? No.

How can you quantify or document this assertion? Which places? As a whole? What does that mean?

Can you document Christianity actively teaching a globe earth?

Flat Earth Theory / Islam and Flat Earth

I'm searching for documentation that shows that Islam actively taught the earth was flat, immovable, not globe etc.

I've read the Quran passages that infer it,  but I can't find anything other than that, or some fairly recent looking video of a Muslim talking about it (airplane taking off / landing). There are newspaper articles from the 19th century that refer to it, but these are from US archives and I couldn't find anything other than the mention of the belief.

Any links much appreciated.

I don't recall looking for or seeing it from the sand, but from the bluffs most certainly. It looks like a stationary air carrier (to me), very flat, and I don't think the sand or shore is visible, at least with naked eye.

Another one :
The Casino and the shore line of Santa Catalina Island seen from Point Fermin Park at San Pedro, California. (See the other thread.) Only abut 25 miles of open sea with nothing in between but the open sea.

Come a bit south. We can see San Clemente Island from Del Mar / Torrey Pines. That's about 45 miles. Tourists (Zonies) mistake it for a parked cruise ship. I lived on the bluffs for over a year before I saw it.
