Flat Earth Community / Re: Questions for the FAQ
« on: December 25, 2013, 05:41:35 PM »
I liked this idea then as well. I think it was Wilmore's fault we did it the way we did instead. I'll see what I can do.

EDIT: How does this format look (don't worry, I have the previous version saved at http://wiki.tfes.org/Saved_FAQ):

(Sorry for the edit. Please see below for an explanation. ~pizaaplanet)
S'all good. I'm hardly the only person allowed to edit the FAQ ~tausami

According to RET, geocentrism and heliocentrism are the same thing. Relativity and all that. It's just a question of whether your frame of reference is the Sun or the Earth.
For most observations, yes.  However, stellar aberration proves that the earth is orbiting the sun.

Did you actually bother to click on what I linked? It's a scientific paper demonstrating the parallactic equivilence between both models. Since parallax and aberration are intrinsically linked, it follows that this is true to aberration as well.

Note: for the uninitiated, parallax is caused by a change in position while aberration is caused by instantaneous velocity

Yas, God is vein.

Ok. I could accept that as an axiom for the Abrahamic traditions, but what about the East? I don't even know if they have the practice.

Eastern religions are usually more about the individual than the gods themselves. For example, in Hinduism devotion to the gods is just another way of achieving true happiness, and there are other paths to Nirvana that have little if anything to do with the gods. You don't have to jump through hoops to prove your devotion to your gods of choice, because they don't give a shit and you're mostly doing it for your own sake.

All the planets revolving around the sun is materially different than all the planets and the sun revolving around the Earth. Maybe I am misinterpreting what you mean by heliocentric.

I'm referring to the neo-tychonic geocentric model, which has been shown to be equivilent to the copernican model: http://arxiv.org/pdf/1302.7129.pdf

What if Yaakov and EJ are actually the same person? What if they're both alts of TK? What if everyone is actually TK? What if I'm all alone in the universe, typing into an imaginary forum and imagining responses in a desperate attempt to hide from the horror of my own lonesome existence?

Circumnavigation is really important to include, as are basic questions regarding the upper limit of the Earth's speed due to UA.

Both are already included

What if Yaakov is the real troll and he's just leading us all on a merry ride of lunacy?

Good luck with that. EJ's banned.

The only reason I do it @ all is because it gives me great personal satisfaction to see him hoist himself on his own pitard. Every time he opens his yap & misspells something 6 ways from Saturday he makes himself look like an even bigger ass. It's entertaining to me to point that out. I have agreed to avoid 'low content' posts, so from now on I shall only notate his orthographical errors in the context of an otherwise content rich post. As much as I don't personally re: that as necessary or even desirable (since the content distracts from pointing out what an idiot he is), I recognise forum rules, & will follow them, even when I disagree w/ them.

You are but young in the ways of the troll, my son. You will learn in time.

I am not sure what is meant by having the poll in a board that not everyone has access to.  I thought we wanted all members to vote?  I can see having it somewhere where the quests can't see it, but I would think that all confirmed members of this site should be able to vote.

Well, my concerns are mostly based around angry noobs, trolls, and alts. Do we really want The Knowledge voting for the leadership of FES? I figure we could have a board that we can all have access to, but isolated from the non-regulars. There would be a thread in FEG for requesting access. I'm just thinking about avoiding people's screwing with the poll, because it wouldn't be very hard to do.

« on: December 21, 2013, 12:23:55 AM »
Indeed. EJ is wise beyond all years. Possession of drugs should be punishable by death. After all, how else might we protect our drug-affected cousins save by ruining them? How might those knaves learn to lead an honest life save by incarceration? It is not enough to simply teach that drugs do wrong. We must ourselves do as much wrong as the drug if we are to protect our society. For indeed narcotics truly are demons incarnate, and the souls of those possessed thereby must be smited in order to be saved. If thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell; by extension, we may learn that if thine cousin doest offend thee, he ought to be himself cast off, and by this protect our very civilization from being thus.

So have we abandoned the preferential voting method?

Well, I'm thinking we could hold a simple poll, but in a board that not everyone has access to

It's perfectly reasonable for Pizza to want a recount somewhere where he can be sure of its legitimacy, and it's perfectly reasonable for squevil to be offended by this. I'm glad we can all be somewhat mature here.

I'm fine with redoing the election. I think a poll in the Elections board would be the best way to do it. What do other reasonable, calm people think?

12 orthographic errors.

This insolence needs to stop and it needs to stop right now. You are making a mockery of this institution with your behavior. You are a complete disgrace.  >:( >:( >:(

Seriously, though, please don't do this. It's as annoying as EJ himself

Instigating? Knowingly and consistently irritating members? Monotonous posting? (in reference to the 'orthographic errors' thing)

If we're going to go through this again, why don't we make that Elections board to do it in? Organization,  and stuff
