The Russians launched from Baikonour, in Kazakhstan. Which ocean? C'mon, now, look at the map of Asia. Which ocean?
Also, when you map out an orthographic view of a rocket going upward and away from the launch site, it does not matter whether you map it against a flat earth or globe. Either way, as the rocket climbs and moves further away, the net result in both cases is that it appears to drop, by moving lower in the observer's field of view. Do the maths on it, and you'll see.
