Technology & Information / Re: Getting into making an OS
« on: February 16, 2015, 01:50:54 PM »
No, but it was a few years back, so things have changed, I assume. I meant that answer to say that I would like it not based off existing code, but I don't mind doing it off existing code. Was a bit vague there.

I figure I might as well do something useful for once, so I'm getting into making an OS. Where could one learn how to begin? I've heard Linux From Scratch is good, but are there any alternatives I should try? I've attempted something before, but my laptop with Xubuntu was destroyed and the structure for my OS with it. (Next time I'll remember to back it up.)

I am not entirely sure what you are getting at here. Are you talking about compiling your own OS from existing code, or building an new OS from the kernel up?
Kernel up, the way LFS describes, at least.

Flat Earth Theory / To find the effect of gravity on any given area
« on: January 28, 2015, 10:21:49 PM »
So, now that Vauxhall has confirmed gravity does exist, on the other site. I wish to find what the effect of gravity would actually be on a given area, say Mt. Everest's peak. So, do you think that the RE gravity equation? And to make up for your stars, are they the right size? As in, do they fit the RE size for them, or what are they?

I want to see if this works.

Flat Earth Community / Re: How many people are in on the conspiracy?
« on: January 22, 2015, 10:36:04 PM »
How can there be people in on a conspiracy that doesn't even exist?  ???
Who said they were? Surely people can be in on the ("Space Race") conspiracy and providing (or causing others to provide) false data about the shape of the earth, such as the accurate measurements of the distance from the earth to the moon. Wouldn't someone have to be actively conspiring to have many observers independently over decades come up consistently with the RET value of more than 200,000 miles?

Again, please address the OP's subject's question: "How many people are in on the conspiracy?".

How many people know what really happened on 9/11?
Irrelevant. Again, please address the OP. Thanks.

Sure, the content of the question is irrelevant. But I'm essentially asking you the same question you're asking me.

How am I supposed to know how many people are in this supposed 'conspiracy'?
Pick out certain people and say "They are _____", or "They are in on it".

This is off topic of what I'm asking. Do you think the conspiracy would take action against a country spreading the word, if they simply manage to get high enough to see the Ice Wall or something that implies the Earth being flat?

Sustained space flight is impossible, but people believe it's possible because the Space Man™ told us so and the Space Man™ cannot be wrong.

If you, the leader of South Sudan, try to go to space, you will inevitably fail. But your failure will only reflect on you poorly, because the Space Man™ already told us that space travel is perfectly feasible; so it's clearly not that you've proven anything, you're just really bad at space.
Not saying you get into orbit, just that you go up high enough to see that the earth is flat, not round.

Flat Earth Theory / Secrecy
« on: January 22, 2015, 05:51:43 PM »
I have made another thread on the other site about the newest country, I then got a response of most of them believing the earth is round. So, as a follow up, I want to ask something more.

What is the Conspiracytm doing to stop newer countries from going to space and blowing it all? Think about it, I'm, say, South Sudan's leader, I finally get a rocket up high enough and guess what? It's flat. Now, I could risk it all and join the Conspiracytm, or I could blow it all and be famous. Everyone would move to South Sudan, the country that isn't lying to you!

See the logic there?

Convenient that they either found nothing or didn't report it.

I remember you saying that no man or machine could survive there.

Perhaps they don't report these findings for fear of being ridiculed by their peers or loosing their jobs?  If you spend a lifetime being educated and building up your academic standings, would you not think twice if you discovered proof that everything you learned/taught and your entire life work is wrong?
Do you mean like when Newton kept quite when he discovered that everything that he learned about gravity was wrong?  Or when Einstein kept quiet when he discovered that Newton was wrong?  Why do you keep insisting that scientists are all about keeping the status quo when science makes its greatest advances by blowing the status quo out of the water?

Isaac Newton is like science's Jesus. He did not actually exist.
Welcome to a minefield, Vauxy. Religion is a touchy subject in a lot of places.

Do you mean that as there was no Issac Newton or that he was wrong?
