You gotta get off that scientific method stuff.  The data was compiled hundreds of years ago and is readily available in books. There are pyramids dedicated to the Flat Earth.  Everything you know is wrong, including the accreditation and certification process that scientists have spent most of their lives working for. Best thing for you to do is format and defrag.  Start over...

Well,  if you are going to format you can skip the defrag.

I'm intrigued by your comment,  "There are pyramids dedicated to the Flat Earth"   Can you explain what you mean in a bit more detail.

He is either talking about the old tests that have been shown to be wrong with modern techniques or the wash of youtuber ramblings. just my guess' anyways.

Flat Earth Theory / moons vanishing point
« on: January 16, 2016, 10:13:35 PM »
This is different from my other thread on the suns vanishing point. I feel the answers where decent enough and that that thread is dead. I want to state I'm not I'm an expert on none of this so if I'm completely wrong about something its a mistake please don't attack me just tell me what needs to be corrected.

The reason why I have a different thread for the moon is it has different properties from the sun. The sun is to bright to see surface detail unless you have special equipment. so here we go.

The moon orbits the (flat) earth much like the sun doing a west-east(possible the other way I cant remember) circle around the plate like shape of the earth. The moon remains the same brightness from moon set to rise because of the "dome" that acts as a lens and magnifies its light. The moon stays the same size from moon rise to set because of the same principle. is this correct?

My question is- Since the moon orbits the flat earth in a circular fashion and not in a strait path ellipse over head, like in the round earth model, should we not see an angular change through out the night of its features. elaborating on what I mean, If you face the south outer ring on the (flat) earth and look over your shoulder toward the moon rise it should be angled since its coming into your field of view from behind you and to the side. As it passes over head it will be strait (how we see the moon every night) then as it gets close to its setting point it will be angled the opposite as it was in its rise. If this is to hard to understand because a poor description I could try to make a video to explain it better.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Planets do not exist
« on: January 16, 2016, 10:00:38 PM »
I do not believe planets exist.  They are reflexions of light.

And if so, are they also flat?
There are allegations that the 1st few telescopic photographs of Mars looked like the surface of the moon.  I can not find a web source for that claim yet.  Try to search it yourself.

how do you feel about the moon?

lol threads get de-railed so well on this forum. Typically if someone wries something completely off topic I ask them nicely to stay on topic. These threads all end the same way, to people arguing pointlessly over random subjects. We should all work on ignoring the posts that have zero weight. bring this back on topic. no one has commented on my last post in this thread, anything to add?

My latest Flat Earth Experiment you can find here:

Hey thanks for doing stuff like this. I've noticed a trend where most flat earthers spew off 'facts' with no back up. your doing that actual research which is refreshing. this is coming from a round earth believer and I appreciate your methods.

I'm curious about this Zetetic method, Can you give me an example of how the process works in detail, and a time it was used.

Sure. Look up the Bedford Level Experiment. It's featured on our wiki.

What is the step process for the zetetic method?

I've adjusted what you posted so that it would be in line with the Zetetic method:

Ask a Question
◦Do Background Research
Construct a Hypothesis
Test Your Hypothesis by Doing an Experiment
◦Analyze Your Data and Draw a Conclusion
◦Communicate Your Results

I hope that helps.

Yes this did help thank you. I'm probably going to start a new thread on this topic once I get my thoughts together. I feel like both methods are different faces on the same coin and both can be handy.

This is a fun topic to talk about and debate and forums but in reality its not a real concern and a very niche belief. Its not really credible enough to be supported as something that should be taught to children.

Do you have any evidence to support your outlandish claim?

Not a source but a lack of sources. I'm unable to find any instance where the mainstream science or education systems have taken any part of the flat earth societies claims serious. Which would have to happen before it would be at all considered to be put into the education system. I haven't done deep research into this so if you have anything that shows they are taking it serious id be glad to give it a read.

Sorry, I'm a wordy guy. I won't force myself to arbitrarily restrict my messages' if that would put the actual message at risk. They're short enough as they are.

Please start a thread with your own rules. Obviously your free to do what you want and I cant stop you but it's just for fun. You wouldn't go play basket ball then run with the ball under your arm and say "I like foot ball". If you can't complete the challenge of five words its ok just refrain from saying anything.

I'm curious about this Zetetic method, Can you give me an example of how the process works in detail, and a time it was used.  I did a quick google search to get the proper steps for the scientific method and found this:

Ask a Question
◦Do Background Research
◦Construct a Hypothesis
◦Test Your Hypothesis by Doing an Experiment
◦Analyze Your Data and Draw a Conclusion
◦Communicate Your Results

•It is important for your experiment to be a fair test. A "fair test" occurs when you change only one factor (variable) and keep all other conditions the same

What is the step process for the zetetic method?

Flat Earth Community / Zetetic method VS scientific method. A forum game.
« on: January 15, 2016, 08:14:02 PM »
The game is simple, choose which you believe to be better then from your decision write a 5 word or less way that this method has improved life for you and others.

rule 1)Please 5 words or less, I know it will be irresistible for some of you to follow this.
rule 2)Don't dispute someone else's claims, it will jumble the thread and make it a waste.
I realise these rules probably wont hold up because of a lack of maturity but a man can dream.

Is there any sort of organized science group amongst flat earth believers. By this I mean people who present properly written science papers and put them up to be reviewed by peers and the science community, Who then can have there ideas be properly tested to decide if they are accurate or don't hold up. I feel like these should be steps taken if there are not already to get the flat earth ideas turned into actual scientific theory.

just to clarify scientific theory isn't just an idea someone has.

A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that is acquired through the scientific method and repeatedly tested and confirmed through observation and experimentation.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Flight Times?...
« on: January 14, 2016, 04:04:37 PM »
Hi there

I was looking into the Flat earth and round earth theories in regards to flight journey times.
When looking on the flat earth map the UK is around half the distance to New Zealand that South Africa is, which leads me to wonder why the flight time is less from South Africa?
Can anybody explain this?

Look forward to your replies

Hi, I was in the same boat as you a while back. I ran into a problem where once I started asking questions that really got to the meat of FE I stopped getting answer and was just called a troll and to get lost. In my research there are a lot of floors to hit in FE with out real answers. so I have my choice.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: question about the suns vanishing point.
« on: January 14, 2016, 05:17:55 AM »
Thanks for the clear and polite answer. I'm used to the other site where I would have been called a troll just for asking.

Your answer brings up two more questions for me. By what you're discribing the sun gets far enough away that the light is blocked out by air/dust ect. And that is why we don't see it any more. Am I understanding this correctly again?

My questions are this. Should the sun not be brightest while directly over head and get measurably dimmer on either side of its path over head. What keeps it shinning the same magnitude of brightness up until sun set and rise?

My next question is about the size of the sun. I decided to view the sun, through a sheet of Mylar that I have, several times throughout the day and it remained the exact same size from sun set to sun rise. What causes this to happen?
