Title: Flat Earth FAQ: Discussion
Post by: Alchemist21 on December 01, 2013, 06:43:39 PM
Directly copied and pasted from the old FAQ.  If anyone can provide images for the broken links, that'd be great.

Lets just do a new one. That thing is 8 years old.

Ok, then let's just throw around some concepts that newcomers need to know first before posting about FET.  We should also add an actual section about the forum itself like whether a post should go in General, Q&A, or Debate.

those 3 sections are retarted. I can't make rules for them because I never understood them.

Took out the questions and linked to the FAQ on the wiki page because its format is easier on the eyes.  However the posting guidelines will go in the OP.

Som questions to post:

How big can my avatar and sig be?

How do I know if a subject has been brought up before?

This topic hasn't been posted in recently.  Should I post in it?

Thork's rage smiley looks freakin' awesome.  How can I get that in my post?

A wiki-based FAQ is a much better idea. Having it in a post is awkward and requires the OP or a mod to make any required changes. In the wiki, it's much easier to maintain, and thus much less likely to become outdated.

125x125 for an avatar; a good rule of thumb for a signature is no more than 5 lines of text, or an equivalently sized image.

About how big is equivalent?

About how big is equivalent?

I don't think it needs to be precisely defined. If someone looks at their sig and thinks "yeah, that's about five lines of text", it's good enough for me.

Ok, noted.  If anyone else has a question they think should be posted in the FAQ then post it here.
