Flat Earth Theory / Pre-Rowbotham flat Earth research?
« on: June 15, 2016, 11:16:06 PM »
Before Rowbotham came along and did Bedford Level Experiment, why wasn't there any serious flat Earther doing a serious flat Earth research?
Ever since Aristotle provided his 3 proof of a spherical Earth, most just abandon flat Earth idea, surely someone before Rowbotham could have done some sort of (serious) experiment to led the conclusion of a flat Earth. And by serious, i don't mean experiment like look at the ground, people in the south fall off and stuff like that.

So if we give ground photos of satellites, flat Earthers responses will be:
"It's a speck of light, how does that supposed to prove a spaceship circling the Earth?".
Well then, what the heck is that speck of light supposed to be?
And why does it's movement matches with websites tracking satellites?

Lying about the shape of the world and keeping a global conspiracy of it is very inefficient, think about it, how many shills are required to keep promoting the spherical Earth? How much money the government is paying all of them? Or if just like the wiki claimed that the government only assume the Earth is round because of older works, then wouldn't it be more efficient to admit they don't know the shape where they can get funding to find out? Anyway, the point is any normal person knows the fact regarding the shape of the Earth is something so simple that doesn't need to be hidden upon, but if the world leaders is not that normal persons, how is someone so foolish gain all that power then?

Flat Earth Theory / Elliptical orbit of Earth, Moon and the Planets.
« on: March 13, 2016, 02:06:07 PM »
It seems that most American flat Earthers always forget the fact that all orbits are elliptical with variable speed in the spherical Earth model.
I have measured myself that the Sun appears larger and move faster relative to background stars in January than at July, the same with the
Moon every 2 weeks. The outer Planets too doesn't always have the same size and brightness during opposition, and no flat Earth model attempts explaining this all.

Flat Earth Theory / Analemma
« on: February 09, 2016, 05:25:42 PM »
From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Analemma

In astronomy, an analemma is a diagram showing the deviation of the Sun from its mean motion in the sky, as viewed from a fixed location on the Earth. Due to the Earth's axial tilt and orbital eccentricity, the Sun will not be in the same position in the sky at the same time every day. The north–south component of the analemma is the Sun's declination, and the east–west component is the equation of time. This diagram has the form of a slender figure-eight, and can often be found on globes of the Earth.

What's the explanation for analemma if the Earth is flat?

Flat Earth Community / Flat Earthers: Is the Van Allen radiation belt real?
« on: December 26, 2015, 07:21:14 PM »
If NASA can't launch satellite, how would they know there's a radiation belt around Earth?
Or if it doesn't exist, why would they make up a dangerous zone for spacecraft and Astronauts to pass?
And why does most scientist from across the world accept it's existence?
What is the Van Allen radiation belt in the flat Earth model you believe?

Flat Earth Theory / Motion of the Moon
« on: December 17, 2015, 10:00:00 PM »
On a round Earth model the Moon orbits Earth in an elliptical path and inclined to both the ecliptic and equatorial plane.
the Moon's angular diameter can be larger and smaller than the Sun (as seen on Solar eclipse and astronomers), the rise and setting of the Moon doesn't share the Sun's path and the Moon rises/sets 50 minutes longer each day. Is there a flat Earth diagram that explain the Moon's motion around the flat Earth with it's inclination to the equator, changing size each month, moving different speeds with the Sun and relations of it's phase with it's position relative to the Sun?

Flat Earth Theory / How does speed of light work on flat Earth?
« on: December 10, 2015, 08:39:40 PM »
Ole Rømer a Danish astronomer measured the speed of light by observing Io's eclipse from different point of Earth's orbit. He got a value of 220,000 km/s which is 26% less than the actual value. How does this happen in flat Earth model where planets are smaller and much closer? Do light slow down because aether or something?

Flat Earth Theory / The Sun couldn't be a spotlight
« on: December 04, 2015, 05:46:17 AM »
If the Sun is a spotlight, daytime would be a circle and very small compared to night time. Yet this isn't true as about half of Earth is in daytime, actually more than half due to atmospheric scattering.
Look at this day and night world map http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/sunearth.html it's impossible to be done by a spotlight in a flat disk. I draw a line to represent the terminator on the flat Earth map 42 mins ago and most of Antarctica is in daylight and the nighttime is smaller compared to the daytime.

What does the flat Earth model have to say to Moon terminator illusion?

The Moon's terminator doesn't always appear to line up with light coming from the Sun, i couldn't (fully) confirm this i  did saw a
crescent Moon once when the Sun is almost below the Horizon, the terminator doesn't really face the direction of the Sun sets.

This is a video from Vsauce explaining the Moon terminator illusion and explaining Crepuscular rays.
