Flat Earth Theory / To FE'ers: How did you come to believe in a FE model?
« on: September 25, 2017, 07:30:46 AM »
Would love to hear from FE'ers.  How did you come to believe
the Earth is flat.  Was it this website, a book, a video/documentary, or someone you met that convinced you?

Flat Earth Theory / Re: The burden of proof.

As junker has stated, the burden of proof is on the claimant. When you come to this forum and start making claims, we expect that you work to demonstrate your claims.
But Tom, the very website that we are using makes the claim that a FE model is viable.  That's what the wiki is all about.  So the burden of proof actually lies with you to defend it.
And Xeno is right, looking out the window can be evidence for a RE, so I don't know how that can be your go to claim.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Explain this Map....
« on: September 25, 2017, 07:05:05 AM »
So, I'm not one to squash anyone's beliefs. I'm just an open minded free thinker saying his peace, so this Map of the earth (vvvv) that FE's I'm assuming take as gospel, clearly shows that there is an "end" or "edge of the world" Yeah? Explain how if you were sail a ship, boat whatever, from the north pole between America and Africa, you're telling us that what? We'd hit a wall and stop, fall off the "edge" or what? Pass through a "dimension" and come out on the "other side" between NZ and Australia? What actually happens? My thoughts are if you sail or fly or whatever from the north pole through America and Africa you would clearly keep on going "around" the word in a straight line and through NZ and Australia until you hit the North pole again, no? Discuss  :)

Stinky loves the one shots. Pay attention to his answer, it's similiar to looking in the mirror and combing ur hair. Make up too.

Dude you hit the 200' ice wall. It tends to sink ships never to be found and the exploration becomes a mystery.

I'm flattered that you mention me in almost all of your posts. (and boy, there sure are a lot of them) Are you ok, you seem a little more amped up than usual?

So I don't get dinged for a low content post, OP, it has to do with the magnetic poles. When you head "east",  FE would tell you you're actually traveling in a big circle around the magnetic north pole or some such nonsense.
I'm flattered too Stinky.  On my first post I was told to go to hell, and managed to get called a retard by him! I was just trying to ask a valid question too, very politely if I may add.  It just plays into the stereotype that FE'ers are close minded.  I'm sure you know but don't take any of that bs personally.

Flat Earth Community / How did you come to be a FE'er and other issues
« on: September 22, 2017, 08:38:55 PM »
I've recently learned a lot about FE'ers and their stance on the world through this website and the forums.  I have some thoughts that
I've not really seem mentioned that I think could be thought provoking.  As a RE'er I'd love to hear from FE'ers on this subject of how they came to believe
the earth is flat.  Was it this website, a book, a friend or someone you met that convinced you?  And why do you trust this source implicitly with great conviction.
I'm genuinely curious as to how they got to this point where the FE model can explain their worldview.  I want to know as well, do FE'ers understand they are not just in the minority but the overwhelming minority?  Do they ever question why this may be.  Also is there a link between Fe'ers and other conspiracies.  Like for example are Fe'ers prone to believe in more conspiracies than the average person?  My guess would be yes (the validity of the moon landing comes to mind since most Fe'ers seem to have a strong distrust in NASA among other agencies).  I see a lot of Fe'ers here fall back on "check the wiki"  and when I do I'm kind of disappointed.  I majored in meteorology for example (I won't even go into why the way meteorology operates requires a RE), and on the wiki all it says is a meteorological fact about the windward and leeward sides of a mountain that is true on a round earth too.  In this case the wiki fails to explain anything FE related. I can show proof of a RE for days but it seems hard to debate Fe'ers so I thought I'd offer a different perspective.  To be honest I kind of feel bad for FE'ers.  I wonder where the education system has failed them.  I imagine you have to be pretty scientifically illeterate as well as Fe'ers having a heavy distrust of many things.  Do FE'ers understand that the first question on the wiki literally says "Is this site a joke".  Do any FE'ers understand why that is?
Lastly,I wonder what it would take to change a FE'ers mind. Flying them to space, flying over Antarctica, or even just (correct me if I'm wrong but the ice wall is supposed to be to
the East of Japan and to the West of Hawaii) flying them from Japan to Hawaii because it should take a long time on a FE model but just a short time on a RE as the plane can
just fly East of Japan to reach Hawaii much quicker? I'd love to hear from FE'ers on these issues I've laid forth.  I'm really curious to hear!
