Here are ten shots of Chicago from viewpoints ranging from 40 miles to 2 miles away:

New Buffalo, MI (40 miles from skyline)

Michigan City, IN (33 miles from skyline)

Beverly Shores, IN (30 miles from skyline)

Indiana Dunes, IN (28 miles from skyline)

Burns Harbor, IN (26 miles from skyline)

Gary, IN (21 miles from skyline)

Whiting, IN (15 miles from skyline)

Rainbow Park, IL (8 miles from skyline)

Harold Washington Park, IL (6 miles from skyline)

31st St Harbor, IL (2 miles from skyline)

Question is, what's hiding the lower part of the city?

Curvature? Perspective? Haze? Waves?

This is very similar to the "what is blocking the bottom part of the sun during a sunset" question.

The round earth response is the curvature of the earth.

The flat earth could respond in many ways:
1. The photographs are using some sort of special lens or have been photoshopped.
2. The sun light has been refracted from being inside of the dome.
3. The light has been refracted from the atmosphere. The further away the more refraction.
3. The light has been refracted from atmospheric water vapor. The further away the more refraction.
4. Water waves which are higher the further away you get.
5. The distances you claim are incorrect because they were obtained using a round earth measuring device or from a round earth coordinate system.

I thought the sunset explanation was just perspective. How waves lower than your eye level could hide a sun 3000 miles in the air is anyone's guess.

This was taken on an inland sea. The phenomenon is addressed in Earth Not a Globe in these chapters:

Why a Ship's Hull Disappears Before the Mast-Head - http://www.sacred-texts.com/earth/za/za32.htm

Perspective on the Sea - http://www.sacred-texts.com/earth/za/za33.htm

And you believe it's right? Why?
