  • Extending services costs money and sometimes choices need to be made! - oh, those poor, poor restaurant owners, some of them had to spend $5k ;_;
  • 2fast4me - I know, right? If they wanted to go fast, they'd work for Sonic LOL!!!! Seriously, though, this is the only argument posed that even warrants a response, so: The workplace I run is just about the same size as a small McD's location - it's hardly uncommon that you suddenly receive directions from above which require you to adapt fast. That's just how management chains work.
  • Retail prices of some products are lower than those of other products - stop the presses!!!! What's a markup an how do I profits?
  • Supply and demand is evil #feelthebern

10/10 now I know there are no real reasons to complain

Bless you Pizza and your voice of reason in this sea of insanity!

So, apparently Aonoymous is going to war.

They'll get bored after a few days and go back to 4chan.  They always do.

I predict they will have far more of an impact than the Obama administration.

One of the terrorists identified as a Syrian "refugee."

 Shhhhhhhhooooocking.

I'm just going to venture a wild guess and assume that it wasn't Christian extremists who were the culprit.

As if Pardisfla would accept code from my fucking ass.  I'd drop in a hidden cockshit easter egg.

You are aware that I am capable of reading PHP and understanding what it does, right?

Nope.

You have a thread with 50 replies and 500 views regarding potentially fundamental changes to how this forum operates and you claim that there are "much fewer pressing issues" compared to the past?
As far as I'm concerned, you're far from a pressing issue, and you're certainly not multiple issues. Having 50 replies is also hardly a big deal - that's about as many as what Thork got when he complained about a relatively minor JS bug affecting a certain obscure browser.

The majority of this discussion could be avoided if the admins/mods stopped upholding the principles we expect of them and just banned you with popular support. If you think that mods refusing to do that is a "much needed discussion about the moderation of these fora", that's your prerogative.

I guess a lot of this is a matter of perspective. Your response of "all PHP code is bad code" makes me think I didn't stress enough just how bad SMF is. Think about it that way: you posting about cockshit is a considerably less pressing issue than SMF throwing a "database error" and denying access to anyone who tries connecting from an IPv6 address. That said, the easiest way for you to find out is to have a look at the code. This will also enable you to implement the changes you'd like to see without relying on me.

As if Pardisfla would accept code from my fucking ass.  I'd drop in a hidden cockshit easter egg.  Further, if SMF is so fucking horrible as you describe (which I don't doubt and will be having a look at the code later) why did you go with it in the first place?

Interesting. I have no doubt that this PHP is poorly written as most PHP code is poorly written. I would be more than willing to submit some improvements to the code to our lord and savior PARDISFLA  should he be willing to accept from my fucking ass.  Obviously PizzaPlanet lacks the ability to resolve such issues technically and someone else needs to step in.

A large part of the reason this forum works as well as it does is that SexWarrior and I spent a couple of months powering through many bugs and features back when we first went live. As always, real life caught up with both of us in the end, but there are also much fewer pressing changes that need to be made these days.

For my part, I'm seeing the sights in Europe at the moment. My journey comes to an end in less than two weeks, at which point I will hopefully be able to spend some time reviewing changes and/or writing code.

I may be a fucking dickhead shitposting troll, but certainly no one can disagree that I've drawn attention to and stirred up much needed discussion regarding the moderation of these fora.

There's an additional caveat - SMF is poorly-written PHP. Seemingly trivial tasks often turn out to be not so trivial.

There's a bunch of stuff that I want to implement, but I find myself lacking in either time or patience. That said, our codebase is open, and I'm sure Parsifal will happily accept code from the community. If any code-literate FES'ers would like to see some changes, this would likely be the quickest route.

I'm not a programer so forgive me if this unatainably stupid but is there a way that a function can be added that you click against somebodies name and their posts do not show up at all for you, as I would press it without hesitation for this person alone.

Yes, of course! It's just code. I believe this software is written in PHP, which is easy enough to learn but rather nightmarish to main I would think. Great suggestion.

Personally, I'm not a fan of McD's breakfast anyway. However, having never worked in a fast-food restaurant (or any food joint at all), my thought process doesn't extend much farther than "If Burger King can do it without whining 24/7, why is it such a big deal that McDonald's finally caught up?"

Oh cry me a fuckin river.  If you don't like it, do something else so we don't have to hear the constant bitching and I can eat my god damn mcMuff in peace.

Annoyingly, simply ignoring a user doesn't fix the issue of them bumping all the threads. Being as this user is the first to reply to everything, everything has his name next to it as the last post. So I can't tell what anyone else has been posting without going in to them and most are just him bumping with idiot replies. Ignore should mean ignore, as in this person's actions just become invisible to me.
  Thanks for the info Thork!

I don't "spam the place up" you fucking idiot. Just CN which by definition states that if i have something that probably doesn't need to be said, post it there, which I do, then get threatened with ban messages by dumbshits.
Did you ever consider the possibility that others might want to play in CN as well and that you incessant spamming is ruining their chance to have fun there?  You act like an only child who was spoiled rotten and never learned to share.

It just happens that I have more things that don't need to be said than most people.  If others have things that don't need to be said, feel free to poast them!  I'll be sure to add my commentary.

That looks hideous and nothing like anything they'd serve ad McDonalds.

As for all day breakfast...
I feel.sorry for the workers.

How hard is it to take 2 steps to the freezer to get an egg to crack for a sausage mc muff?  The cheese is the same, buns are basically the same.  And it's just a friggin meat patty.

Please, if you dont want to serve all day bfast, get another job.

That pic resembles the bullshit that McDonald's served up in Australia while I was there on holiday some years ago.  Fuckin tasted like dogshit.

I should probably remind you people yet again that we do not moderate based on your personal biases. Just try to lay off with the cognitive dissonance for a while and think about what you're actually suggesting. How many people are annoyed by Thork and Hoppy's posts and would rather not see them? Should we be permabanning those two as well while we're at it?

Furthermore, as far as I can tell lolwut? is showing a lot of improvement. He's making mostly funny spam threads without walls of huge text again like back in the day (when nobody complained about him), yet you people are still asking for an unconditional permaban. If your arguments are really reduced down to "I don't want to see his posts in new posts" then sorry, we're not giving it any consideration.

I don't "spam the place up" you fucking idiot.

Personal insults towards other users are not allowed outside the lowest fora. Warned.

My faith in the mods of these fora is only strengthened.  Gods bless.  My apologies for the personal insult infraction as I was not aware of this rule.  I will be sure to report any personal insults towards myself by other users to the moderators without delay.  Thank you for this clarification.

Don't be a dick is a rule. Is it not?
He just spams the place up. Hardly anyone responds, or readsthem. Spamming with big fonts, just to be a dick, and making hard for people on phones to scroll through. He is being a dick in everybodies face and probably laughing his ass off that he isn't permaband. The large font bs is what gets me pissed more than the stupid threads.

Well PizzaPlanet has suggested a technical fix to the font problem which has obviously not been implemented.

I don't "spam the place up" you fucking idiot. Just CN which by definition states that if i have something that probably doesn't need to be said, post it there, which I do, then get threatened with ban messages by dumbshits. The fact that I'm still here makes me actually respect the mods. Not that they give a good god damn.

I wish he'd just piss off. Pressing the "Show unread posts since last visit" link just yields pages of this dickhead's antisocial white noise. I don't want to waste 2-3 mins every time I come here to filter through threads he hasn't bumped or created.

At this point I would say he is deliberately ruining my and everyone else's enjoyment of the forum. And as such, why the hell are we putting up with it? Are we afraid he'll do something terrible? Or that he'll just keep evading bans and keep coming back spamming everything? That we continue with this incessant attack on our community because we fear he'll break more rules and spam in more places if we don't? You've made the dumbest person on this site, the most powerful and tyrannous threat to it. IP Ban him already. And set up a list of known tor nodes and ban them as well. And every time this cretinous behaviour rears its head again with a new account, IP ban that as well. Not for 3 days. Forever. 3 days isn't changing this knob jockey's attitude to posting. We don't need or want him here. Send him back to theflatearthsociety.org or over to Eric Dubay with all the other people we don't want to interact with. The internet is billions of sites. He can use one of those instead and probe its rules and dry hump their mods. With the power vested in you as mods and admins, let your finger descend like god's own hand from the heavens, and stick a bolt of lightning into this infidel. Click 'Ban' already. >o<

It's not that the staff is afraid of lolwut, (The accusation of which reads like a poorly attempted reverse-psychological stir to action.  As if it's supposed to elicit a response like, "I'm not afraid of lolwut!!! Lets ban him no so no one thinks I'm scared.") it's that the forums rules are designed to protect the user and allow as much freedom as possible.  The problem is that lolwut is consummately abusing this freedom.

So we find ourselves at a crossroads; do we advocate for a loss of freedom to perhaps make the forums more desirable for more people or do we allow the freedom and try to ignore lolwut?  Whatsmore, it's not simply a rule change.   It goes against the ethos of tfes.org as it was founded partly in reaction to the strict and imprecise application of rules at the old site.

This was, possibly, inevitable.  Ideally, I think the best action would be to correct the behavior through an appeal to lolwut's sense of decency (what I'm sure is a woefully small target).  The root problem here is that the wonderfully open rule structure is quite easy to abuse and, sadly, as is human nature, someone will come along and ruin things to satiate deviant sense of happiness.

Is the Zetetic Council still in effect?  They may have the power to suggest and bring about a change if the society desires it.  Slippery slope that is though.

I would hope that no one is "afraid" of me as I pose no harm on the society.  I am glad that my posts have spawned such a discussion  which seems to be the nature of tfes.
