Suggestions & Concerns / Allow Markjo Lounge access
« on: February 05, 2022, 06:57:59 PM »
I hadn't considered that Markjo couldn't access the Lounge. It's a social forum and nothing more.

He obviously has an interest in some of those things. He has expressed an interest in Wordle and it'd be nigh on impossible to shit up that thread. He'd probably enjoy hearing about how stiff I am as well.

I motion that on compassionate grounds, he gets Lounge access that can be removed at any time if he keeps talking about my mother's breasts.  >o<

I see this as a small compassionate concession to prove that the problem is him, not us and that he does deserve his eternal punishment. Its not everyone else who is just cruel to him.

We don't seem to rank at all for the term "the flat earth society".  :(

Edit: we do but our rank has dropped considerably.

Flat Earth Investigations / Weather forecasts
« on: December 29, 2021, 12:17:08 PM »
Weather forecasts are based on 'THE SCIENCE'.  >o<

Now, whilst no one expects them to be deadly accurate, you'd expect some kind of prediction. You aren't expecting a wild stab in the dark. After all, the weather scientists have the most powerful computers on earth. They model complex algorithms using millions of data points. You'd expect, therefore, for their forecast to be a little more accurate than if they had slaughtered a goat to see how the entrails lie, when arriving at a forecast. And yet, here is the forecast for next week from two different providers, both offering me a tile of their prediction.

So which is it? Am I expecting the coldest weather in living memory, or the hottest? I mean this is only a prediction for next week. Its not like I'm asking them to tell me what is going to happen in April. That would be a prediction on climate and I have zero confidence they can predict the future climate ... let alone to 1.5 degrees or whatever they fear, but I digress.

When something as fundamental as weather prediction, a science with so much money poured into it can't tell me with any degree of accuracy whatsoever whether I'll be freezing my nuts off next week or breaking out my shorts, why would I trust other scientific predictions also foisted upon me by the mainstream media such as coronavirus spread, climate change or inflation models? These models are untrustworthy. I'm just being lied to over and over and told to 'trust the science'. But the science is bunk.

Suggestions & Concerns / Where's my signature?
« on: December 19, 2021, 06:14:56 PM »
Or anyone else's signature for that matter?

They've been gone a few days now. I thought it might just be space saving on mobile but now back on my mainframe and still no signature. Is it broken, hacked or do you have a reason for removing our carefully crafted signatures?

The immigrant crisis will be her lasting legacy. Good riddance to a blight on European politics.

Ok, I know it's the silly forum with snow, but I make most of my posts in there and I can't do that from my phone because it isn't responsive.

The snow is an old joke now. Can we just fix it?

Philosophy, Religion & Society / 🙋‍♂️ UK gets new political party
« on: September 27, 2021, 07:48:14 PM »
Only today, I was bemoaning the lack of choice, how even the Tories were drifting left and there was no one to counter this.

I've not voted Conservative for many many years now, opting instead for UKIP when it mattered most, and I spoiled my voted when asked to choose between Corbyn and Treason May.

But alas, a party I could possibly get behind has emerged. One that doesn't believe that men can have cervixes. One that isn't pro unlimited immigration, doesn't want to rush into the arms of the evil European empire and won't be fawning over all things woke. Ladies and Gentlemen ...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-58713102

Yes, yes, they've already been smeared as far right before they've even uttered a single manifesto pledge, but everyone is far right from the perspective of the extreme left of the BBC. They're actually just a bunch of regular blokes who don't think drag queens are funny and aren't afraid to turn a black candidate down for a job if they are no good.

Technology & Information / computer maint day
« on: August 15, 2021, 10:28:31 PM »
So my PC has been a bit ill of late. Idling at around 65-70 degrees C and then juddering like crazy if I try to run a game. The fans are blasting away, the whole thing is a hot mess.

I ordered some thermal paste and some new thermal pads. Today is the day.

I pulled my computer to bits. Its an AIO so I had to remove all muh heatpipes. Dell's thermal paste was all flaky and dry. I remove it from both the processor and GPU, add some Arctic something v4 something paste, cut up and stick on the new thermal pads on the other thingy-ma-bobs and reattach muh heatpipes. I give the fans and vents a good hoover out, as well as any other dust bunnies lurking.

Fire her back up and my idle is now 45 degrees and she runs games the way she did when I got her. Idle and the fans are barely audible which will bring back my sanity. I probably should have done this last year!

I was going to get a new computer this year (current one is 4 years old now) and whilst it has had some upgrades (RAM and nvme drive) I never hold onto a PC that long. However, prices of chips are stupid and availability is scare so this has bought me another year. Unless Apple make something I fall in love with in September. But I think I got another year and I might just get a new phone instead in September.

Anyhoo ... never re-thermalled a GPU until today. Was pretty easy.

Suggestions & Concerns / Blocking moderators
« on: August 11, 2021, 06:27:14 PM »
I have added Pete Svarrior to my ignore list. This is because despite my asking him to stop messaging me, he persisted.

This of course means I cannot see any warnings, posts or general nonsense he tries to send my way. Might I suggest other moderators get in touch if need be. I'm just fed up with Pete at this stage. He's been a moderator far too long. He's no good at it, he takes everything personally and uses being a mod as a way to win arguments. Because you won't depose him, I've blocked him. He'll need to ask a responsible adult to interact with me on his behalf in future.

Suggestions & Concerns / Where's my post?
« on: August 11, 2021, 11:39:25 AM »
Xasop linked me one of my old posts.

I have a poo timer. So far this year my boss has paid me over £700 for sitting on the toilet.

But when I click on the url I get attached message.

Where does my post live and why do I no longer have access to it?

Suggestions & Concerns / Rofl emoji
« on: August 10, 2021, 03:50:23 PM »
This is a website that prides itself on derision and cyber bullying.

It has come to my attention that we don't have a way to mockingly laugh at one another.

We have a grin.  ;D

We have a smile.   :)

We have a cheesy smile  :D

But there is no laughter emoji.

I have taken the liberty of constructing such a thing. Please consider adding.

Suggestions & Concerns / embed tweets
« on: July 26, 2021, 10:45:20 PM »
I can Embed youtube videos. I can't embed tweets. Increasingly the likes of NASA, celebs, politicians and famous scientists use twitter to make a snappy quote. I'd like to use those in my posts, but alas I can only include a screen shot of them. Please improve my user experience.

Thank you.

Technology & Information / Die, Pinterest, die!
« on: July 11, 2021, 01:38:58 PM »
Over the years I've become so fed up with Pinterest appearing in my image search results, only for me to click and be confronted with their aggressive sign up policy.

Today I killed pinterest forever. I'm already enjoying searching the internet more. I wish I'd done this years ago. NY Times has received similar treatment. If I can't use your service, I don't want it clogging up my search results.

Philosophy, Religion & Society / Ronaldo snubs Coke
« on: June 16, 2021, 10:13:47 PM »
For those who aren't European.

Watch the first 20 seconds of this video below.

Cristiano Ronaldo is arguably the biggest sporting star in Europe. And with that little act ...

Quote from: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/christiano-ronaldo-coca-cola-value-b1866890.html
Coca-Cola’s share price dipped by $4bn (£2.8bn) after Cristiano Ronaldo removed two bottles of the carbonated drink in front of him at a press conference and encouraged people to drink water.

They should have paid him $400m and asked him to take a slurp.  :o

Amusingly
Quote from: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/christiano-ronaldo-coca-cola-value-b1866890.html
On Tuesday, France midfielder Paul Pogba removed a bottle of Heineken beer that had been placed in front of him at a Euro 2020 news conference.

Heineken's share price finished 1.39% up on the day.  🤣

Technology & Information / NFT my posts
« on: May 21, 2021, 06:03:58 PM »
I'm not going to tell you what an NFT is. You can get the gist from the BBC here.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-56371912

Now people are able to pretty much NFT anything. Example ... someone sold the nyan cat for over $750,000 a coupe of months ago.
https://foundation.app/NyanCat/nyan-cat-219

Today, Charlie bit my finger is being taken off youtube so it can be auctioned.

Logan Paul auctioned videos of himself unboxing pokemons and got £13,000 per video.

So ... admins ... I'd like you to package up and remove all of my posts on this site that I have ever made, and allow me to auction them off. My feeling is that they will be worth lots of money. Someone like Honk would pay a small fortune for a token that represents Thork posts.

Suggestions & Concerns / Post limit on DMs
« on: March 16, 2021, 05:18:06 PM »
I'm fine with people DMing me if they want. But I get a lot of driveby DMs that I don't need. Today by someone with one post ...

Hi there.  I am trying to find someone to interview for an ethnographic study for college.  I am interested in addressing the sociologistic aspects of the FET.  Would you be willing to help me out?

Or from this zero post catfish
Hi there,

I notice that you are a member in this online community. I am a student at DePaul University doing a study on these types of communities, and it would be very helpful to my research to learn about your experiences as a participant.
Would you be willing to participate in a short interview, via email?  No personal data (including site pseudonym if applicable) will be kept; the site will not be identified by name in the research presentation; and the goal is not to ridicule or delegitimize the site. This is a sociology class and we are studying virtual communities as a
microcosm of material world communities.
Thank you for your time!

Hi

I am not looking for a rant.
I am simply looking for a quick interview for a radio piece that i am doing, not for an assessment but for my own project. It is not very long so the interview will not be in depth.
I understand that the short time i have i will not be able to fully explore the entire flat earth theory. But all i wish to ask questions about is the flat earth theory its self, your opinions of those who do not support it, and how you became aware of the flat earth theory and your introduction to it.
The emphasis is not on weather the earth is flat or not, it is far more focused on the people who believe it is.

Would you be interested in doing this interview?
It can be done over the phone if you wish

Kind Regards
David

Or this person with zero posts
I would like to ask you a series of questions for a project that I am conducting in my class, in which I am proving the Earth Flat. Would you mind if I asked you a couple of questions?

or this one post wonder
I am a NASA physicist who knows the earth to be round, I would love it if you were to email me so we could have an in-depth discussion on the matter.
Dr. Rachel Bishton

Zero posts ... justs stops by to say
Do you really believe in a flat earth. Cause the earth is round so go fuck your self

Its annoying.

Can we have a tick option we can set where we can set say a 20 min post limit before we start getting inbox abuse? If you've been here and made 100 posts ... knock yourself out. Abuse me. But you should have to earn that privilege. It shouldn't be granted to every child in America with internet access just by creating an account.

Flat Earth Investigations / The Line
« on: March 14, 2021, 10:18:21 PM »
The Line is a new $500bn development in Saudi Arabia. For reasons that are likely linked to low IQ and incompetence, the Crown Prince of Saudi has ordered a city that stretches 170km in a dead straight line. He clearly doesn't understand agglomeration, what happens should your soul transport link have an issue and that his is an oil rich nation and banning cars along a 170km stretch is absolute dumbfuckery. But, we aren't here to discuss the economic merits of such a venture. This city will have a hyperloop under it so I think you can guess whose Kool-Aid the Prince has been drinking.

Below is a little video if you'd like to know more about this bonkers project.

What we care about of course ... is earth's shape. And if you are to build a 170km straight line on a flat earth, it will look like a dead straight line. If you are to do that on a round earth, its going to follow a great circle.

As you can see from this great circle mapper over Saudi ... I'm expecting to see some bend at this scale.
Click for bendy goodness

Not a bit of it. The Saudis know what shape the earth is, and they are building a city to prove it.
