‘Welcome to the Satellite Hoax’
By Alex

Although I’ve long considered space photos fakes, I’ve actually had a conservative undecided position about orbiting satellites awaiting more evidence, but this video is convincing. I’m with him completely on this topic.

Would anyone be willing to summarise the salient points, and indicate where in the video these are made?

The table of contents of Robert Schadewald’s book serve as an outline to roughly the first half of the talk which cover the history of the Flat Earth movement from 1819 to the death of Charles Johnson in 2001.

https://www.cantab.net/users/michael.behrend/ebooks/PlaneTruth/pages/index.html

After that, the history of the movement over the past 20 years.

Finally, the last 10 to 15 minutes discuss ancient Flat Earth history:
1) outline of ancient Flat Earth cosmologies in various countries
2) growth of late pagan sphericism and triumph of early Christian Flat earthism
3) Islam’s revival of Greek sciences including sphericism & subsequent historical spread of sphericism

That was a good presentation. I do find that these forums have value and disagree that they are a waste of time. It is tedious, but the conversations here do help refine our arguments, and do recruit others into the movement.

Thanks.

I have indeed noticed a bit of this phenomenon in both forums over the years. Iron sharpens iron. And I think you’ll find that I made a distinction in this forum’s favor as much more the hospitable.

I think I can say with confidence that if only a fraction of the users on Daniel’s forum had been like Tom Bishop, then my admittedly negative opinions would have been fundamentally different.

From the January 2018 Salem, Oregon meetup:

At a glance, I notice only two factual errors. Firstly, Robert Schadewald passed away in 2000 and Charles Johnson in 2001 - not vice versa as I erroneously stated in the video. Secondly, Raa (not Ram) is the name of the Muslim gentleman who had a flat earth book published in 2013.

Finally, I concur with the YouTube comment that the content is good, but painful to watch. Indeed, in an email to Mark Sargent before he posted it, I made exactly the same criticism about my own speech, and it’s because although I know the material, I did the speech completely off the cuff with no preparation whatsoever. In organising and promoting this meetup at a swank hotel with complimentary drinks, etc (outside of regular work), I totally ran out of time. Mark Sargent simply replied “Don’t over think it. It’s a good video.”

As to where the anonymous author of the Anti-Newtonian derived his information and insight, I reckon the most likely source is the Jesuits who themselves got it from a Vedic source.

What makes me think this is the difference between the ancient Vedic and Christian flat earth models. Both have an Arctic mountain in the north which the sun orbits daily, but a striking difference is that the Christians believe the garden of Eden lies in the Far East beyond the ocean, but Hindus, Jains, and Buddhists place the garden of Eden along with the northern mountain and other things all in the Arctic with the Arctic being the centre of their system.

Rowbotham didn’t revive the ancient Christian flat earth model but rather revived the ancient Vedic flat earth model, or this is the essence of the system described in the 1819 Anti-Newtonian booklet.

Does this flat earth world map exist prior to 1819? Yes. The earliest example I have seen of this flat earth map used by Rowbotham (outside of Vedic sources) is the 1703 map depicting Magellan’s voyage by the Jesuit cartographer Heinrich Scherer.

https://f-origin.hypotheses.org/wp-content/blogs.dir/1447/files/2015/12/World-Map-Magellan-Journey-Victoria-Scherer-c1700-Keilo-Jack-site-Centrici.jpg

The Jesuits had been in China and India since the late 1500’s which is plenty of time to discover and learn the basics of Vedic cosmology. I haven’t scrutinised where and what are Scherer’s sources and influences, but the fact that he was a Jesuit who drew an essentially Vedic flat world map with the Arctic at the centre and the more ancient concept of Jerusalem at the centre of the earth being abandoned; it seems indicative of an ultimately Vedic origin.

Did you find that book to be worth the money?

Yes, but I’m prejudiced in favor of Cosmas Indicopleustes and the ancient Christian model with its vaulted arch of heaven as opposed to infinite land. With all due respect to Charles Johnson,  Mark Sargent is a definite step in the direction of early Christian flat earthism.

I had bought Eric Dubay’s book and donated it to the trash can after examination discovered it had no index nor even a table of contents, or any order whatsoever. Dubay’s flat earth book entirely consisted of a patch work of copy pasted paragraphs from flat earth books I already owned. Also, Dubay’s book is not the first flat earth book to be published in recent years. Ram, the muslim poster on Daniel’s forum a few years back, managed to publish a flat earth book about 2013 (if I recall correctly) which was a year before Dubay’s copy paste job came out.

I confess I’ve only so far read a couple of chapters of Mark Sargent’s short book, but if those are any indication, then it’s a keeper for me that I’ve added to my library with the older ones. Now a lot of that checking into al Biruni was my own follow up looking into it, but he was on the right track with that guy (al Biruni) & I had been totally unaware of that major historical development.

It’s refreshing to read a modern flat earth book by someone with at least the same general perspective. Maybe that’s a Christian bias on my part. I appreciate Mark Sargent’s presence on the scene.

EDIT:
Aside from returning to a domed model somewhat like the early Christians, Mark Sargent begins his book by dedicating it to the Holy Trinity.

‘He knew Earth is round, but his proof fell flat’
By Robert Schadewald
Smithsonian, April 1978

https://www.theflatearthsociety.org/library/newspaperandmagazine/He%20Knew%20the%20Earth%20Is%20Round%20(Schadewald).pdf

A footnote at the bottom of page two of the pdf reads:  “Mr. Schadewald, a free-lance writer from Rogers, Minnesota, is preparing a book on the flat-Earth movement.”

Schadewald passed away in 2000 just a few months before Charles Johnson, and this long awaited book was finally published online in 2015.

I suggest adding ‘Plane Truth’ to the online library. As far as that goes, Daniel should add it to the library on his website as well.

Forgive me for saying in my view his forum is worse, but his online library superior to this one. It seems to slowly but surely add material over the years.

Flat Earth Media / al Biruni
« on: January 20, 2018, 09:13:29 PM »
Leisurely reading through Mark Sargent’s book ‘Flat Earth Clues’, the mention of the geographer al-Buruni caught my attention.

I am already aware that early Islam revived interest in Greek science which included sphericism. The early Muslim geography was based upon and greatly revived interest in the sphericist Claudius Ptolemy.

Indeed, that is how sphericism broke the hold of Christian Flat Earth doctrine by riding on the bandwagon with Islam. Much later, the Jesuits spread this spherical error to areas beyond Islamic dominance such as China.

Among other errors, Claudius Ptolemy had a vastly inaccurate map of Africa that had it occupy much of the Indian Ocean. This erroneous understanding helped stifle navigation there for centuries, and it was based upon the erroneous cartography of a globalist!

al-Biruni significantly corrected this view which eventually led to better navigation in the Indian Ocean and around Africa - with Muslims first and later by Europeans such as Vasco da Gama.

al Biruni’s map of Africa and Cosmas Indicopleustes’s map of Africa are strikingly similar. It appears that following the globalist Claudius Ptolemy caused error and ignorance whereas being guided by the flat earth model of Cosmas Indicopleustes helped correct that error.

Robert Schadewald’s ‘Plane Truth’ lacks the condescending attitude in Christine Garwood’s book. He also includes an appendix wherein he asserts that the general consensus in the early Church was that the Earth is flat which disagrees with what Garwood states about Cosmas Indicopleustes being a weirdo alone in his belief. Schadewald cites obscure Flat Earth passages from major writers like Saint John Chrysostom that are valid whereas Garwood’s research is apparently more shallow.

Schadewald wrote an article about John Hampden and Alfred Wallace for Smithsonian Magazine in the late 1970’s which mentioned that he was writing a history of the modern Flat Earth movement. I contacted Schadewald personally in the late 1990’s, and he said he was still working on it at that time.

I'm seriously considering it. Are globe-tards like me welcome?

Yes, of course.  Just be civilised and fit right in.

The main point of this meetup is not to convert people or vice-versa.  Most people coming to this already know the Earth is flat and the basic stuff. There will be some first timers for sure, but for a lot of us this meetup has two purposes:

1) put out some info (especially historical) that will fill in a lot of blanks for a lot of Flat Earth believers.

2) provide an opprtunity for the FE community in Oregon to meet together, network, etc.

Based on what Mark Sargent told me from his own experience, I’m expecting perhaps 50 people that will be enthusiastic about meeting with similar minded folks and definitely not looking to be judged (his words).

Forgive me if this is not in the correct category. I thought it important to get the word out.

We’re having a Flat Earth meet-up at the Red Lion Hotel in Salem, Oregon (I-5, exit 256) on Saturday 27 January 2018 from 12 noon to 5pm.

We’ll be in the Jefferson Centre room #1 located by the rear parking lot. It’s their biggest room - carpeted with elegant round banquet tables. We’ll have free information packets with lady greeters at the door and free and unlimited coffee, tea, soft drinks, and water for the first 50 folks from 12noon to 4pm.

The hotel is within walking distance of multiple places to eat and inexpensive lodging.

The hostess and organiser is Mrs. Carolyn, and I’ll be giving two talks on the history of the Flat Earth movement (ancient & modern). We have a projector, screen, sound system, and a cordless microphone. Tentatively, Chief Crow and the Flat Earthworms from Portland will be performing, and we’ll have time for passing the mic to everyone for introductions and plenty of time for questions, open discussion, and socialising.

And by the way, it’s free.

The chief book for the history of the Flat Earth movement from the time of Samuel Rowbotham to Charles Johnson was written by Robert Schadewald and published posthumously in 2015.

In accord with the spirit of the initial post about achieving good health without being exploited by the medical establishment, I'd like to mention a series of useful and practical oriented medical books I recently associated with the People's Medical Society.

The now defunct People's Medical Society was anti-medical establishment organisation that formed as an offshoot of Rodale Press which has been one of the major publishers of organic gardening books since the 1930's. The zenith of the People's Medical Society was the 1980's and 1990's. Unsurprisingly, it was slandered by many establishment medical doctors. An informative link describing one investigator's findings:

http://www.healthy.net/Health/Article/Peoples_Medical_Society/1030

The significance of the People's Medical Society today is an excellent series of books authored and co-authored by its Chief Executive Officer Charles Inlander. His books are available used and inexpensive through vendors like Amazon, Abe Books, etc.

Examples are 'Take This Book to the Hospital With You' which has a perspective of doctors and the medical establishment as predatory fascists out to skin you alive. The book is useful to avoid incurring unnecessary costs and unnecessary surgeries and medical procedures. It assists one's health and finances. He wrote a whole series of such books such as 'Take This Book to the Dentist... the Gynecologist... the Pediatrician... the Obstetrician, etc.

For home use, I also picked up Charles Inlander's 'Over the Counter Doctor' and similar books. One book not directly associated with the People's Medical Society but worthy of mention is 'Prescription for Nutritional Healing' by Phyllis Balch which has been my go to home medical book for many years.
