Mike Lee, a homeless activist is running for mayor of Berkeley, California. 

I am particularly intrigued that Lee is a part of the League of Revolutionaries for a New America, formerly the Communist Labor Party and perhaps the most sophisticated communist organization in the US with a historical background that goes back many decades including roots in the CPUSA of the 1940's and 1950's.   I find it to be a treasure trove of wisdom and knowledge in a form that american culture despises:  historically predominantly African American and deeply interested in the homeless.

As proletarians or industrial workers were the vanguard of the lower class in Lenin's time, homeless have become the vanguard of the lower class today.

This strata seems more in tune with the other peoples of the world than any other segment of American society.
