Recent polling shows Kamala Harris closing the gap both nationally and in swing states with Trump still firmly in a narrow lead.

I believe this election is really going to come down to whoever wins Pennsylvania. Both of the post-Kamala-switcharoo polls put Trump at +2, well within the margin of error. If these polls don't change significantly, PA will be a big gray area up until the election. If Kamala manages to poll better in other swing states (such as Georgia or Florida), then PA won't matter as much, but for now, Georgia and Florida are firmly red, so much so that I can hardly call them swing states this year.

In fairness, the last time we had a woman candidate, she had great polls and failed.

Maybe this time she'll have bad polls and win?

Hillary almost certainly would have won had Comey not released his report mere days before the election. The polls didn't have time to adjust and the FBI made it sound like Hillary was quite literally about to go to jail, back when that sort of news mattered. Combined with record low dem turnout, it was a perfect storm of surprise-loss.

Well, now that there's definitively only one senile old pedophile in the race, who are YOU voting for?

Pretty tough for a lot of people to answer when one of the parties hasn't chosen a candidate to be voted for yet.

You really should pay attention to the news.

The convention is nearly a month away. A month ago, Joe Biden was the presumptive nominee. You thinking it's Harris might end up being true and it might not be, but it's absolutely incorrect to say it's guaranteed to be Harris.

Are any of you seriously saying it won't be Trump vs Harris in November?
Because it will be Trump vs Harris in November.

That's certainly an opinion. If the DNC starts polling for Harris and realizes she has some absolutely horrific numbers, they'll bench her alongside ol' Joe.

Since Biden has dropped out, it seems our election posting is getting spread out needlessly across multiple threads. I'm starting this new thread for every to post their endless opinions about who should be president and why it's Jeb Bush.

Incorrect.
If someone succeeds, that'll overshadow it.

No one can succeed because Trump put all of his spec points into evasion. This counts against all attacks, both verbal and physical.

I guess the argument is at least with her it could get better, with Biden it definitely won't. It does feel like a desperate last throw of the dice but I think it's one they had to do.

I don't think it was guaranteed that it would not get better with Biden. What really threw a wrench into the DNC's plans is that someone tried to kill Trump. Whatever the DNC comes up with in the next few months will never overshadow that, it'll be talked about perpetually, it's one of those events that is never going away.

I think this was the dumbest possible decision the DNC could make. Time will tell if that's true.
Why? Biden had zero chance of winning. Maybe you think Harris has too, but even if that's true it's not possible for anyone else to have less chance than Biden did. Him dropping out was the only possible chance the Democrats have of winning this election. There's a good chance they won't anyway, but there was nothing to lose.

Now they have legal minefield to navigate regarding how the candidate will be selected and how they will qualify to be on the ballot in each state. They're also confusing voters and making the DNC look chaotic.

Harris doesn't poll any better than Biden does. Now, that could change. It could get better... but looking back on her 2020 primary performance, the chances aren't looking good. The voters didn't like her at all and her primary run ended quickly.

I think the key take-away here is that all of the DNC's options are bad options, but keeping Biden at least appeared to be a sane thing to do, even if he was going to lose anyway. This will cause the DNC to devolve into even more finger-pointing and blame gaming than it was already doomed to experience.

Impressive. Biden has been out of the race only a few hours and the narrative has already switched from "Biden is the worst possible candidate the Democrats could be running, they're crazy to go with him" to "Biden was the best possible candidate the Democrats could be running, they're crazy to let him drop out."

With the DNC as it currently is, both statements are simultaneously true.

There's no point in arguing with him. We'll just have to wait until the thing he's insisting can't happen inevitably ends up happening, and then he'll probably say "haha trole u!" Anyway, I wasn't expecting this, but of course it's good news. I'd still bet that Trump wins, though. He's in a much stronger spot to win than he was in 2020.

Obviously, it was not impossible that Biden drop out (for example, he could die before the nomination). The idea of it actually happening was so incomprehensible that I assumed they wouldn't do it (hence, they can't do it). Watching a political party torpedo its own chances of winning an election in real-time is really something.

I think this was the dumbest possible decision the DNC could make. Time will tell if that's true.

Here's how Biden can still be replaced.
By him stepping aside.

We're back to our regularly scheduled program: Here's how Bernie can still win.

I could write a thesis on how this image alone won Trump the 2016 election.
Please do.

No.

Does he know something or just shilling?

Shilling? I think you mean "trolling". It's just rage bait, and judging by the comments, it worked.

Like, c'mon man, you trawl some of the ugliest parts of the Internet to find your talking points. Surely you have some of these to share:

But this isn't a terrible political meme, this is a work of art; it's a masterpiece of political science. I could write a thesis on how this image alone won Trump the 2016 election.

Biden is 81 years old, quite literally any virus will kick his ass (which goes doubly so for Trump regardless). They're probably just saying it's covid because the public still associates covid with "very bad disease". If they said Biden got sent to Walter Reed for a common cold, it'd make his already horrific polls crater to the point of no return.

Four months is a long time for anything to happen. Hillary might have had a far better election night had Comey not nuked her from high orbit just days before the election.

Maybe ol' Joe can have a gold medal Olympic sharpshooter put a round through his nose to compete with Trump.
