While the Ice Wall is not the only explanation (see this alternative model, which I believe is primarily championed by Tom Bishop), the simple answer is that your friends are mistaken about what happened. They most likely flew alongside the wall, and not "through" Antarctica.
Aren't you supposed to be able to see Russia from Alaska?

Out of curiosity, what do you see as wrong about a death penalty?

Maybe he'll be the next OJ Simpson.

Sued for....
The Italian government has copyright on the use of images of David. Maybe you should have actually read the link I provided?
Pretty sure Spongebob made a similar statue (without the gun obviously). Think he asked the Italians for permission?

I'm assuming he means when you click on the password field, a little tip pops up if you have capslock on. The login screen to windows has something similar. I doubt that's even possible on a webpage, either way it seems unnecessary.

I am not a racist.  I hate everyone equally.
That joke is older than the Internet.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Ask a Flat Earth Theorist Anything

What's your opinion on the phases of the moon? Do you believe in the bioluminescent migrating shrimp or some other theory?

I believe that the moon's phases are a combination of effects.  I believe that the moon is self-luminescent, and that the luminescence is  triggered, at least in part, by sunlight.  The result is that the bright parts of the moon are the portions where sunlight is most intense, but the light we see is not reflected light from the sun, if that makes sense.  I also think that the relative altitudes of the sun and moon change with time, which is why the sun's light sometimes falls on the part of the moon we can't see.  I should probably expand this into a working model with diagrams eventually.

I'm sorry,  but this seems to be a poor explanation.  How is that idea superior or even equal to the idea of reflective light? How would the sun shining on the moon make sections that are not receiving light glow? I would believe in moon shrimp before I believe in this.

What in your opinion is the weakest part of FET, if anything? It could be anything that might be explained better with RET. (Coriolis Effect,  sunsets,  satellites,  etc.)

How many upper level people would need to be aware of the Conspiracy over the years,  and how is that not too many people to keep a secret?

You can argue that pictures are not real, but even without them RET has more evidence than wild speculation, which is all this thread can come up with regards to FET. Does anyone have any actual evidence that this Ubuntu guy was influenced by NASA, other than the fact that he had a conversation with them? Anyone can wildly speculate. I think he was called by NASA because they were looking to upgrade the OS of the International Space Station. It was already upgraded from Windows to Linux, surely the next logical step would be Ubuntu? That is how you guys take a tiny piece of evidence, and twist it so it matches your theory.

I made a Q&A thread that got like two replies, I don't think the majority of the people on this site actually care about the earth's shape.

Another sleepless night. Hope I don't decide to crash in the middle of calculus. I didn't even crash from my caffeine high last night, it was more of a gradual decline into normalcy.

I actually knew I would have this problem with electronics mostly, so I left my laptop at home until I got this under control. Still screwing around on my phone though, like right now. I'll probably just have to stuck it up for the first week or so, my schedule will likely force me into somewhat normal hours starting Monday.

Science & Alternative Science / Sleep Cycles
« on: January 11, 2014, 08:43:39 PM »
So over my Winter break between semesters, for some reason my sleep cycle has gradually been getting worse. At this point it's so bad that I stayed up all last night, went to bed at 8 in the morning, and didn't wake up until just now, at 3:30 in the afternoon. I didn't purposely stay up all night, I just have not been able to go to sleep. Considering I'm going to have morning and early afternoon classes starting Monday, do you guys have any possible advice for me?

Philosophy, Religion & Society / Re: Atheism vs. religion
« on: January 09, 2014, 09:50:16 PM »
One of the main reasons I became atheist is that almost everyone I've met that is religious (or at least Christian) just isn't a good Christian. Church is just a social club, and a lot of people just cherrypick sins like cursing, premarital sex, and homosexuality. It's just something I didn't really care to be part of.

You probably hate me then, being a non-biblical, non-churchgoing, deist-christian christian.
Nope, I don't hate you. I just don't think you qualify as a Christian if you don't put in some modicum of effort.

That is exactly what you should tell your parents.
That won't work because my parents (or my dad at least) are pretty solid Christians. I would just end up regretting it immediately.

You have terrible parents.
Matter of opinion, I suppose.
