Title: We're dangerous far-righters now, apparently
Post by: Pete Svarrior on November 07, 2019, 12:08:48 PM
Sigh. It's that time again. The press are trying to do Flat Earth. This time, we're literally Jair Bolsonaro's inner circle.

Brazil's flat Earthers to get their day in the sun - The Guardian (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/nov/06/brazil-flat-earth-conference-terra-plana)

The article isn't particularly worth spending much time on, it follows the usual pattern:

It's such a tired, boring trope. Do people still read this crap? Does it sell? Could the radical notion that beliefs unrelated to politics are unrelated to politics ever make it into the mainstream?

Didn't some journalist try to bait you during an interview to get you to say that you basically love Trump?

I have a rather apt thread for this kind of thing in AR...

Oh, so many of them. But then there have been just as many people taking me saying "hey, trusting megacorps might not be a good idea" and inferred from that that I'm a raging communist.

  • FE'ers are meeting up
  • FE has been growing worldwide
  • Here's a story of an individual successful FE'er
  • Boy oh boy FE'ers are the political option we disagree with!!1!!!!! (in this case it's the Guardian, so we're obviously the far-right)

It's such a tired, boring trope. Do people still read this crap? Does it sell? Could the radical notion that beliefs unrelated to politics are unrelated to politics ever make it into the mainstream?

This is the only forum I know that doesn't deteriorate to politics within 5 posts.

Media has a hard time differentiating different “conspiracy theories.” Anti-Vac is mainly far right folks, so FE folks get grouped in there too.
