Suggestions & Concerns / Re: Believers section / rank

Just an FYI to some people who do not seem to be aware, Inti has an IQ of 180, though if you'll ask him he'll probably say 160. This is because he is very humble.

Show the bloke some respect!

I think somebody in the FES should talk to somebody in the Navy about this subject.
But that is probably against their rules....or against their nature.
After all the Navy is just one more member of The Conspiracy anyway. Most sailors have some degree of security clearance and they would get court martialed if they said they were hiding the fact that the earth is flat. That is probably part of Classified Information.

I have a theory for this part of the flat earth wiki.
Rowbotham was eiither short sighted ..... or had cataracts......or both.

I'm in the Navy.  In fact, I'm a submarine officer with 9 years in the Navy who has traveled over 50,000 miles at sea.  Believe me, if the earth was flat I'd know lol.  I've literally observed thousands of ships through a periscope either come over the horizon or go over the horizon.  Because our periscope is only a few feet out of the water our distance to the horizon is only about 5,000 yards so ships coming over or going over the horizon is very commonplace.  The phenomena is so well documented that we can actually calculate the distance to ships based on the known distance to the horizon and how much of the ship we can see over the horizon.  Its also an easy trick to approximate the range of ships near the horizon.  Furthermore, if we see the mast of a ship we can't identify we often stick our periscope more out of the water (by changing our depth) which changes our height of eye and therefore changes our distance to the horizon.  Sure enough, when we do this more of the ship comes into view.  We also have far more powerful magnification on our periscopes (along with night vision and infrared vision) then people have access to in the civilian sector and I can assure you that zooming does not bring the ship back into view if it goes over the horizon.  Likewise, if a ship goes over the horizon you can't pick it up with night vision on infrared.  If the earth was flat then we would be able to pick them up on infrared from pretty much any distance.  Helicopters with infrared can easily pick up contacts from a hundred miles away if they are high enough.

And the final nail in the coffin is radar.  The effective range of your radar is dependent on how high the radar is above the water line.  This is because the curvature of the earth limits your radar.  This is why ships always place their radar as high as possible.  You can even test this out if you have your own boat and you buy a portable radar.

However, no flat earther will ever believe my testimony.  I guess I'm a liar in their eyes lol.

Well there you have it!

First hand observations are evidence.

What good would it be to prove that there is a 150 foot wall of ice at the Antarctic coast when the Round Earth Theory also postulates that there is a wall of ice at its coast?

It doesn't predict the same thing and that difference would be indisputable proof that the Earth, not a Globe.

Round Earth Theory also says that there is a 150 foot wall at the coast of Antarctica known as Ice Shelves and Ice Walls. The only difference is the length of Antarctica's coast, which appears as a rim continent in the monopole model.

If we were to risk our lives and travel along the harsh and freezing waters of the Antarctic coast and find it to be a continent, what benefit would it really get us? We would just say that the Flat Earth models where Antarctica is a continent is the most correct.

Once there, if we were to find that Antarctica actually was a rim continent, we may very well find ourselves unprepared and ill-supplied for the length of journey, harsh conditions, and the navigational challenges of getting back home, and perish in the process. So, there is no significant benefit of doing this, really.

I agree. Why risk our lives with all this exploration nonsense? Much better to study our universe from our basements.

Toss Zeteticism out our windows. (You may need to leave the basement for this.)

Youtube, the best invention since potato chips!

I have no trouble believing this. A lot of things do.

Again, even if the sun and Moon are only 3000 miles above a flat earth the effect will still happen.  I looked at the moon and sun this morning.  They didn't appear to line up until I connected them with a taught string.  It's an illusion.  The brain is totally capable of not seeing things as they really are until your perspective of them changes.   The horizontal lines in the image below are actually parallel  but they do not appear to be.  The brain gets fooled.

Does this illusion business cause the world to appear globe shaped to us even though it is actually flat?

I'm no awesome video maker so you can critique all you like.  I just finished this one that maybe explains better.  My wife didn't get it so I thought I'd give it another go.  😁
My explanation could be wrong.  The model shows the illusion happening while everything is lined up.

That was great! I didn't mean to sound critical of your last video. It was helpful. This second one is even better though since it has more of an explanation.

Thanks!

tbh I didn't find that video very satisfying. It did a good job of illustrating what the illusion is, but didn't really explain how or why we could know it was an illusion.

The real question is, when is sex-pest going to swoop in to the rescue.

(I've got this junker)

Low content post. Warned.

Sorry. Won't happen again, at least not today.

Tidal Effects

In the FE universe, gravitation (not gravity) exists in other celestial bodies. The gravitational pull of the stars, for example, causes observable tidal effects on Earth.

Q: Why does gravity vary with altitude?

A: The moon and stars have a slight gravitational pull.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: 2+2
« on: March 29, 2017, 04:46:00 AM »
This is completely incorrect.  I have seen plenty of substantial and consistent criticism of the literature.  There are multiple threads that demonstrate what complete and utter kife EnaG is, for example.

The criticism is weak and easily rebutted. But still, criticism is not bringing anything original to the table to demonstrate the shape of the earth. Modern astronomers have not really done anything original on this topic. This is why we have to look at the work of ancient astronomers who did not have authorities to appeal to when questioning the nature of the world.

I haven't seen any original proofs that 2+2=4 lately. Everyone just uses the same proofs that were used millennia ago. Weak.

I doubt he cares what you and I think of him. But he'd probably get a good laugh if he read this thread.  ;D

You are not making very much sense. In some posts you seem to be saying that Shaq does not like to be called an idiot. Shaq seems to agree with that through what he said in his second statement.

In other posts you seem to be saying that Shaq wanted the world to thing that he was an idiot with his first statement. He gets off on that and doesn't care about public opinion.

You are being pretty contradictory. Please clarify.

I can't clarify it to you because you don't seem to know what a joke is.

One way people joke around is to say something that people will think is outrageous just to get a re-action(people wondering if they are crazy) . A short time later they laugh and say they were just joking. If they did it right, everybody laughs. Revealing that you were just joking is part of the joke. If you leave it hanging nobody laughs. This may sound silly, especially to someone as dry and humorless as yourself but it happens all the time.

What are you talking about? Does Shaq care about public opinion and everyone calling him an idiot or not?

If no, he doesn't care, then why does he communicate that he does care?

If yes, he does care, then why did he deliberately leave everyone to think that he was an idiot?

I don't know whether he cares or not. (And neither do you) It is irrelevant.

(Possibly he cares if the world thinks he's an idiot in the long term but doesn't care so much if it's just for a few days)

He did it for a joke, according to him. Like I said, you will not understand it because you don't understand humor. Also, I guess it doesn't help that you're desperately trying to save face. ;D

It is directly argued here that Shaq likes to make the entire world think that he is a dumb dumb for the lulz. It is argued that he doesn't care about being mocked and ridiculed.

But according to what he says in the second statement, he does care about public opinion. How can that be?

Arguing that Shaq did this for a joke is not the same thing as saying Shaq loves being mocked as a dumb dumb.

According to what he says in the second statement it was a joke.

Well, the RE position on this matter seems to be that this was all premeditated and designed by him, to trick the world into thinking that he was an idiot... which he apparently does not like.

It makes a lot more sense if his statements were off the cuff and honest, and this was the unintended result.

An educated celebrity of his superior qualifications should surely be aware of the likely results of making such a statement publicly, even when he's doing it "off the cuff."

So does Shaq like being called an idiot or not? If not, why would he deliberately try to leave people thinking that he was one?

I'm not sure I understand your sentence correctly, but it seems like you're saying that according to what you're reading here, Shaq loves being mocked as a dumb dumb.

What has anyone written here that implies that Shaq loves being mocked as a dumb dumb?

Another question, given Shaq's superior qualifications how is it that he did not foresee what the results of his statements would be?

Intikam foresaw that it would take strength for Shaq to maintain his position. Here is his quote:

Shaq is Strong enough to carry our flag. And it suits him. Go shaq!

I guess he wasn't strong enough after all.  :'(

I'm going to let you stay in the belief that you've won this argument, not pointing out that the majority is laughing at you trying to defend your way out the fact that you got played. Everybody wins!

The sun is out, I'm in a good mood, and your online characters are making this day even better. I'm a nice guy like that.

Have a good one! :)

This. (The first sentence does seem to contain a contradiction but this seems like the type of thread where you just LOL and go with it.)

P.S. This is my new favorite thread.

And this.

LOL!

Well if "People whose job is literally to know" agree on something I guess we should take their word for it!  ;D

Well, Dr. O'Neal says he was joking and I think we should believe him.

Who am I going to believe, a doctor of education; or you guys, who are not doctors of education?

He only said that he was joking after the story went around the world and he was mocked and ridiculed relentlessly. Kind of too late and not really obviously genuine.

Classic conspiratard thinking. When he says what you agree with you take him at face value. When he retracts that statement and says he is joking there must be something more going on beneath the surface. Back to the vitamin C clinic!

Does vitamin C really cure conspiratarditus?

How do you know what Dr. O'Neal really believes?
