Philosophy, Religion & Society / Re: Another mass shooting
« on: May 26, 2014, 03:26:01 PM »
Personally, I think it has something to do with all the media coverage these things get. Mentally unstable kid sees the reaction to previous shooting and thinks, "Hey, that wouldn't be a bad way to go. People would remember me forever!", then has a bad day and decides to go through with it. And then a year later, it happens again.

Goddammit.

Pardon my dullness, but the above three posts are satire, correct?
It is fair to assume that whenever fappenhosen is involved.
Thank you for the candid advice. I won't bother to respond to fappenhosen when I suspect more satire.

Yes, thank you. Should I treat jroa the same way? I've been under the impression that he is at least semi-serious in most of what he posts.

Maybe off-topic, but...

A. Recent information released by NASA prove they are wrong.

B. NASA is a conspiracy devoted to perpetuating a RE.

Pick one.

A highly improbable and super massive conspiracy amongst all global airlines is about all I've seen as an explanation.

Irrelevant. RE model is not FE model, there would be no need for this forum if so.

Alright, so, again assuming accuracy, you have evidence that parts of the world fit your model. While that might support your position, it doesn't prove anything. Those same results can fit the RE model as well. I'm starting to get the idea that being a FEr is more of a personal choice of worldview than anything else.

This type of behavior is prevaleny among FEers as well.

According to the FAQ the latest test of the Bedford Level Experiment was carried out in 1904.

You're comparing a passenger train to a freight train and saying the passenger train is harder to make? Preposterous. It should be infinitely easier for Virgin Galactic to go to space, its just unfortunate that it is impossible and no one was nice enough to tell them.

That brings up an interesting point- why did no one tell VG? I mean, if someone who isn't on government funding discovers that space travel is impossible, the cat's out of the bag, isn't it?

To answer your question, any discrepancy in distance and time it takes to travel to one location on the Flat Earth map is due to government/conspiracy involvement. Pilots are paid by the government to fly around longer than they should, thus making it seem like the "correct" distance has been achieved under a Round Earth model. Trips that would theoretically take several hours to complete in a plane actually take much less time than you are led to believe. This is because the pilots circle around the same location several times before taking you to your actual destination.

This bumps the number of people in on the secret of the FE up roughly another hundred thousand in the US alone. (Sauce- http://www.bls.gov/ooh/transportation-and-material-moving/airline-and-commercial-pilots.htm AND that's just counting pilots)... yet no whistle blowers. I don't find that very plausible.

Take it up with the FAQs.

Not very convincing stuff. Even if we assume the data to be accurate, it looks to me as if no one is taking into account that the RE model does NOT depict a perfect sphere. That of course is going to throw off calculations.

Then again, you can hardly blame them; 1904 was a long time ago.

Well, there's a plenary of evidence that the Earth is flat. Given that to be a fact (which of course can be argued, but let's not go there here), then something fishy is clearly going on with the space agencies of the world. The flatness of the Earth is evidence of the conspiracy.

I think I might go there anyways.

Perhaps your evidence is simply wrong. If you can't prove what conflicts with your ideas to be false, you can't prove that your ideas are, as a matter of fact, true.

So you didn't measure Antarctica. Glad we got that out of the way.

So you DID read the thread!

What kind of vessel and other miscellaneous tools did you use to measure Antarctica?

We might answer your question if you stopped lying to us. Do you work for the British Antarctic Survey? If so, please post your credentials.

A business card or an employee ID will suffice.

Until then, good luck.

I would ask you to read the first page again, but it's obvious you're just trying to stretch out the dance. Classic avoidance. I shouldn't have expected so much of this forum...

When civilians are in space, you people will look like idiots.  Pardon my French.

Only a matter of time. Unfortunately, I predict those civilians will simply be branded as government agents and the farce will continue...

I'm asking questions, and then when people refuse to answer them I post satire.
Perhaps if it wasn't so difficult to tell the difference between one and the other, people would take you slightly more seriously.

Perhaps if the Society actually answered my questions, I would take you slightly more seriously.

Again, why the bias towards sources of information?

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Ask a Flat Earth Theorist Anything

Nobody said that.  It's true that the main reason to suspect a conspiracy is indeed their depiction of the impossible, but it's not any kind of self-proving circular argument.  There are independent reasons for us to believe that the earth is flat.

Therefore any evidence which implies the contrary must be a lie, correct?

I'm not the one making outlandish claims. I discourage all readers to avoid sea travel.

Neither am I. I'm asking questions, and then when people refuse to answer them I post satire.
