beardo is getting a new GPU
« on: October 06, 2016, 09:25:20 PM »
Over a month ago, I got fed up with my GTX760 crapping on me. Since I still had the warranty, I tried to have it replaced or repaired. But it turns out the card is no longer in stock, so my vendor couldn't get a replacement of the same model. Instead they told me I could buy a new card from them, with the price reduced by the same ammount I paid for the GTX760, which was 229€, so I picked out a GTX1060 and I only have to give them 90€ for it. Seems like a p. sweet deal to me.

Picking this baby up next week.

As long as nVidia keeps dominating the market you'd be stupid not to buy them.

That would be a reasonable response if I said there was no reason ever to buy Nvidia. What I actually said was that there are reasons not to buy Nvidia.

It's still a reasonable response if the benefits outweigh the downsides for his use case (which is most likely the case).

Incorrect. Nobody is saying that buying Nvidia is not the best option for him specifically.

I feel that it's strongly implied, but fair enough.

*ahem*

Based on my understanding of beardo's and Franklin's needs, it seems like nVidia would be the best option for each of them.

It's either NVIDIA or Nvidia. Why do you jackasses keep capitalizing the V in the middle of the noun?

Old habits die hard. Stylising it as nVidia or nVIDIA was fairly common back when the logo looked more like this:

The unmistakably lower-case "n" was a bit of a trademark, as was the "nV" abbreviation (admittedly not for long).

I guess between the logo design, the consistency with pronunciation, and the "official" spelling of nForce, it was easy for that specific capitalisation to become a thing.

EDIT: also holy shit the 90s were awesome

Even the old as shit 90s website used Nvidia or NVIDIA. Your stylistic slaughtering of the English language needs to stop and it needs to stop right now. You're a complete disgrace.
