Hello and welcome. I would suggest reviewing the FAQ and wiki, as most of your questions are answered there.

The turtle carrying the flat earth is moving very slowly, making four steps a day, thus tilting the earth slightly each time and the water keeps its level while the land tilts, lol.

Refrain from low content posting in the upper fora. Warned.

You're welcome for the 16.04 advice.

Well the test release of Windows I had to install to get 16.04 has now broken to the point that I can't even bring up the Start menu, so don't take credit for everything just yet.

Start menu broken... welcome to Windows 10. An incredibly common occurrence.

Make sure the firewall service is running and then run from an elevated powershell prompt:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

EDIT- added the thing which I think will break bash on ubuntu on windows anyway.

Welcome to Windows

You only don't know what those blinking lights in the sky are unless you think all astrologists in the world are apart of some dumb conspiracy...

Why would there be a conspiracy of glorified fortune tellers?

"Windows Subsystem for Linux" is terribly misleading. It is not a subsystem for Linux at all, but a subsystem for Windows.

>"not a subsystem for Linux at all, but a subsystem for Windows."
>literally called Windows Subsystem...

First, I tried upgrading from Ubuntu 14.04 to the latest Debian. The upgrade worked, but the Linux emulation in Windows doesn't support all the features expected by a newer distribution, so some things just don't work right. I've reinstalled on Ubuntu 14.04 now...

Did you try Ubuntu 16.04? It can be installed using the 'lxrun' command from Windows. Not sure if it would yield any different results for what you are trying to do.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but is there any reason why you wouldn't just use the Windows build of Iridium?

Do you even Parsifal bro?

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: How do things fall?
« on: February 15, 2017, 04:36:40 AM »
Flat earthers argue that things fall due to density. For example, my shoe is denser than the air that surrounds it, so it falls down. The problem with this is that things do not move unless moved. Meaning a force must act upon the shoe for it to fall. Since this is the case, what force is pulling or pushing things down?

Why would you make a post about a position we don't even claim? Have you read the wiki or FAQ?

If the earth is accelerating, then explain how things float, and fly. Also Eric Dubay claims the flat earth society is BS, and one of the things he mentions is how silly it is that the earth would by accelerating up.

Things fly in FE exactly the same way as they would in RE. The Equivalence Principle explains how gravity and acceleration are indistinguishable.

Dubay thinks everyone and everything are BS and/or shills. I am not sure what point you are trying to make here, other than a crazy person doesn't agree with us.

I don't even know what that would have to do with anything.

That is incredibly obvious.

Junker, my chubby cheeked little muse, my name isn't Boots.

Where are the (fucking) images of our flat world hanging against a starry back ground?

If they exist they are probably on film or digital storage.

I could show you video of all kinds of things that look real.

And there's the rub, there are countless videos/Photographs of what the various space agencies from differing countries have done or are doing, all fake apparently, but where are the (leaked or otherwise) images of our flat world hanging against a starry back ground?

Who said they're all fake?

Gravity has existed since 10^-43 Seconds after the big bang, and has caused matter to cluster into spherical stars and planets about 100 million years after the big bang.
Prove it.
Prove that it doesn't exist, or is it that the Earth just so happens to be flying through space at a coincidental 9.8 m/s². This site is probably one of the biggest jokes I have seen in my life. We have video evidence that the Earth is round and spherical. Do you have video proof of a flat earth?

I think he meant for the person making the extraordinary claim "Gravity has existed since 10^-43 Seconds after the big bang, and has caused matter to cluster into spherical stars and planets about 100 million years after the Big Bang" to prove that claim. Oddly enough, said user chose not to (likely because said user was just repeating things he head before).

I'm actually not sure what was hard to understand about the request. When someone makes a claim, the burden of proof resides with that person.

Also, who is this "we" you are referring to? And is video evidence no longer subject to scrutiny? I could show you video of all kinds of things that look real.

Anyway, have fun.

Flat Earth Debate / Re: Explain these things

You are saying every one of my questions have been answered in the FAQ or Wiki. But only 3 are.

Where did I say all of your questions have been answered in the FAQ/wiki? They've all been discussed before. Additionally, you edited your original post and added questions, and appear to want whatever I said to apply retroactively. Not a good way to get questions answered.

I'll suggest again that you read the FAQ and wiki, and post any questions you still have or want to discuss. I'll again recommend  discussing one or two topics at a time.
